He knew he was fit, as the training had been going well. On January 25, 2014, Galen Rupp came back and ran 8:07.41 for the two mile (hitting the mile in 4:01.6) and setting a second AR.
On Saturday, February 8, 2014, Galen Rupp will be running the mile against 2008 Olympic silver medalist Nick Willis, 2012 Olympic silver medalist Leo Manzano, and Lopez Lomong, the former 5,000m AR holder and a 3:51 miler, in his own right.
The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix Mile should be one of the meet’s highlights. It is like the Reggie Lewis Center is made for middle distance racing!
Galen Rupp told us this afternoon that he wanted to run competitive, with fast time being secondary. And of course, it goes without saying, that he wants to win !
