Carmelita Jeter ran 22.31 for 200 meters at Rafer Johnson/JJK Invitational, and ran on second fastest 4 x 100m of the day. Allyson Felix anchored the Bobby Kersee All Stars to a World Leading 42.65.
Moses Mosop probably knocked himself out of contention of the Kenyan Marathon team with his third place at the ABN AMRO Rotterdam marathon, running 2:05:03! Talk about high stakes!

Bolt opens the season with relay, Blake 9.90 WL
KINGSTON (JAM, Apr 14): Sprinting star Usain Bolt started his season at
UTech Invitational in rain and anchored Racers TC team to world leading
meet record at 4×100 m 37.82. The team started with Mario Forsythe,
world champion Yohan Blake and Kimmari Roach before him. “It’s always
good to run with each other, it’s always good for the crowd because they
always come out to see a good meet, so it was good. It’s my first run,
and I am happy, I got through it… It was a little bit chilly, because
of the rain, but this is what we used to it Europe. I went out, just
executed and I felt good,” said Bolt per Trackalerts. Second MVP in
strong composition (Dwain Chambers, Mike Frater, Nesta Carter, Asafa
Powell) 38.27 and third UTech 38.99. Asafa Powell commented:”It was a
good race. I knew if Usain got the stick in front of me it would be hard
to catch him, so I wasn’t really trying too hard to catch him. I was
expecting a lot more from the guys, but they did their best. I felt good
coming down, I crossed the line healthy. I am still happy, I still have
a lot of work to do”. Individual result highlight was the first sub 10
of 2012 by world champion Yohan Blake 9.90 (+1.6). It is the fastest
earliest time into the year ever. Ato Boldon clocked the only faster of
April 9.86 but on April 19, 1998. “I could have pushed some more towards
the end but my coach told me to take it easy tonight,” Blake said for
Jamaica Gleaner. Second Jacques Harvey also impressive 10.10 ahead of
Sheldon Mitchell 10.18 and Oshane Bailey 10.18. Mario Forsythe won the
other race in 10.22 (+1.3) and Youth Olympic Games winner Odean Skeen
his race in personal best 10.33 (+0.9). In the 200 m the fastest for sub
10 runner Nesta Carter 20.48 (+0.7) and in other race Daniel Bailey of
Antigua 20.60 (here Dwain Chambers fourth in 21.32). Another world lead
in the women 400 m for Rosemarie Whyte in 51.13. Here Sheron Simpson
stopped after 350 m, but reports are saying it is nothing serious. Other
winners Carrie Russell in women 100 m (11.38, +0.3), Hansle Parchment
110 m hurdles (13.71, +1.6) and Oral Thompson 45.95 over Edino Steele
46.16. Women of MVP were the best in the 4×100 m (staged before the 400
m) 44.08 (Shericka Williams, Simpson, McLaughlin and Hutchinson).
Jeter 22.31 WL
WESTWOOD (USA, Apr 14): World champion Carmelita Jeter clocked at Rafer
Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite world leading 22.31 (+1.5) in the
200 m. But in the relay her team HSI A (she was anchor, before her K.
Wilson, M. Barber and L. Barber) was beaten after 43.06. Winning Bobby
Kersee All-Stars world leading 42.65 (G. Powell, J. Tarmoh, D. Harper
and season opener for Allyson Felix). African champ Blessing Okagbare
wins another 200 m section in 22.81 (+0.3). Fast 100 m hurdles by
returning former top athletes Michelle Perry the double world champion
clocked her fastest since 2009 with 12.75 (+1.2) over olympic 2004
winner Joanna Hayes 12.96 (at age of 35 her first hurdles since 2008).
Also to note Keisha Baker 51.48 at 400 m. In the men´s 800 m Duane
Solomon 1:45.83 with hurdles all-time great Felix Sanchez personal best
1:48.99 as fourth. Ryan Wilson clocked 13.67 (+1.9) at 110 m hurdles and
triple world indoor champion Will Claye was fourth in the 100 m (10.53,
+2.8 winner Jerome Avery 10.32). Australian Julian Wruck won the discus
64.84 ahead of Briton Lawrence Okoye 62.48. But Brits registered wins
for Martyn Rooney 45.92 in the 400 m, Meghan Beesley 56.54 at 400 m
hurdles and Sophie Hitchon in hammer (68.06).

OXFORD (USA, Apr 14): World champion Brittney Reese is early in
impressive shape with world leading 704 (-0.1) at Mississippi Open meet.
She started with two fouls, then 635, another foul and great 690 (+1.8)
in fifth before the big leap. Nobody ever before jumped so far in April.
Fast sprints as Michael Granger posted 10.17 (+0.2) at the 100 m over
Isiah Young 10.19 and national team member Trell Kimmons (10.26). In the
200 m impressive PB´s for 19 years old Anaso Jobodwana of South Africa
20.32 (+1.9) ahead of Isiah Young 20.33 and Kimmons 20.62. Russian youth
and junior medalist Vera Rudakova won the 400 m hurdles in 57.61.

CORAL GABLES (USA, Apr 14): Fast sprints at Hurricane Alumni
Invitational. Very fast men 200 m with personal bests for Harry Adams
20.10 (-1.1) ahead of Bahamian quartermiler Demetrius Pinder 20.23. Fast
also the 100 m where World finalist Nickel Ashmeade of Jamaica achieved
10.09 (+0.1) over Keston Bledman from Trinidad 10.12 and Travis Padgett
10.29. Deon Lendore of Trinidad won the 400 m in life-time best 45.56.
Antwon Hicks clocked 13.48 (+2.1) at 110 m hurdles. French long jump
windy wins for Eloyse Lesueur sensational 704 (+3.6) and Kafetien Gomis
791 (+4.0). Shalonda Solomon beat a good field in women 100 m in 11.26
(-1.8) over Sheri-Ann Brooks of Jamaica 11.33, former world champ Lauryn
Williams 11.34 and Bahamian veteran Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie 11.44. In
the 200 m good win for Briton Abi Oyepitan 23.15 (-1.4). In another race
Dominique Duncan 23.13 (+0.2). Jo Atkins clocked 51.85 in the 400 m and
Tiffany Williams 56.28 in the 400 m hurdles.
Nelson beats Hoffa
ATHENS (USA, Apr 14): Top shot put duel at Spec Towns Invitational.
Former world champion Adam Nelson got world leading 21.54 over another
world champion from the past Reese Hoffa 21.49. There were huge attempts
in the warm-up and agent Paul Doyle mentions a long foul from Nelson.
Torrin Lawrence clocked here 45.65 at the 400 m and sprint double by
Charles Silmon 10.28 (+1.1) and 20.68 (+0.6).

TALLAHASSEE (USA, Apr 14): At Seminole Invitational good double for
Dentarius Locke in sprints 10.23 (+0.1) and 20.59 (-0.4). Bosnian Kemal
Mesic in shot put outdoor best 20.18. Canadian Angela Whyte posted good
12.95 (+1.2) at 100 m hurdles. Florida State Elite clocked 3:03.53 in
the 4×400 m.

the 200 m. Also to note the 13.68 by Barrett Nugent at 110 m hurdles

LUBBOCK (USA, Apr 14): Another solid discus by Jason Young at Texas Tech Invitational 65.28 m.
COLUMBUS (USA, Apr 14): Top hurdler Jeff Porter achieved 13.67 (+2.6) win at the Jesse Owens Classic.
AUSTIN (USA, Apr 14): Texas Invitational saw Jeremy Wariner trying to
find his shape. He was second in his 200 m race (20.84, +2.8) and won
the 400 m in 46.43. Short sprints were aided by strong winds which were
not helpful for the 400 m. Despite that Jamaican indoor revelation
Patricia Hall won in 51.74 and clocked also windy 22.69 (+2.7) in the
200 m. Women 100 m with +5.9 was won by Alexandria Anderson 10.88 over
Lashauntea Moore 10.93 and Porscha Lucas 11.02. Former world indoor
medalist Laverne Jones-Ferrette of US Virgin Islands won her 200 m race
in 22.68 (+2.1) over indoor world medalist Murielle Ahoure 23.13. In
men´s 100 m Aaron Armstrong of Trinidad got 10.21 (+3.5) over Antoine
Adams of St. Kitts 10.22 and long jumper Marquise Goodwin 10.32 (won his
special event 793 +4.3).
NORMAN (USA, Apr 14): Indian record holder Vikas Gowda confirmed good
shape with 64.50 at the John Jacobs Invitational. Second Ian Waltz

KNOXVILLE (USA, Apr 14): Ellen Wortham clocked good 55.93 at 400 m
Hurdles at Sea Ray Relays. Indoor improvement Brycen Spratling won the
400 m in 46.03 and Trinidad´s Jamol James clocked windy 10.24 (+2.2) in
the 100 m. Last year NCAA Champion Tim Glover improved in javelin to
81.31.
FAIRFAX (USA, Apr 14): French World 2009 semifinalist Johanna Danois
improved at George Mason Invitational to 11.47 (+0.4) at the 100 m and
got also good 23.16 (-0.9) at the 200 m.

MELBOURNE (AUS, Apr 15): 2009 World champion in discus Dani Samuels has
shown impressive form to win the women’s discus throw at the 90th
Australian Athletics Championships with her season best 62.34 (her best
result since May 2010). World junior championships bound Steven Solomon
clocked a personal best 45.54 to win his second consecutive 400 m crown.
He is now the fastest junior in the world 2012. In the 200 m finals
Melissa Breen clocked another personal best of 23.30 (-0.3) and New
Zealand guest Joseph Millar in 21.27 (+0.2). Matt Davies was the first
Australian in 21.36. The middle distance highlight came from Jeff
Riseley with third national title (3:47.88). Joshua Robinson won the
javelin 78.31. The women’s long jump was won by Kerrie Perkins after a
wind assisted 670 (+3.1) ahead of young Brooke Stratton (656, +0.8) on
the very last jump. In the women 400 m fast 51.69 by guest from Ireland
Joanne Cuddihy. Another impressive guest performance, new national
record for India as Siddhanth Thingalaya achieved 13.66 (+0.2) at the
110 m hurdlers. Megan Wheatley won the heptathlon with 5832 points.
SANTIAGO DE CHILE (CHI, Apr 14): New national record for Chile in long
jump by Daniel Pineda 807 (+1.0) at Grand Prix meet here. Second
Brazilian Rogerio Bispo 796 (+1.0). In women long jump Keila Costa 663
(+0.3) and good sprint double for another Brazilian Sandro Viana 10.33
(+0.7) and 20.58 (+0.7).
ZHAOQING (CHN, Apr 14-15): Impressive triple jumping at National GP meet
as Dong Bin improved to 17.38 (+0.5) and Cao Shuo to 17.35 (+0.5). Qin
Qiang achieved 80.77 in the javelin. In women events to note Huang
Xiaoxiao 55.47 at 400 m hurdles, Gong Lijiao 19.08 in the shot put and
71.04 by Asian record holder Zhang Wenxiu in hammer.
