adidas Supernova Glide 4 Named Best Shoe in the Neutral Category of Running Network LLC 2012 Spring Shoe Review
FORT ATKINSON, WISCONSIN – The adidas Supernova Glide 4 took top honors in the neutral category of the Running Network LLC Spring Shoe Review.
“The Running Network LLC is excited to name, what our talented team believes to be, the best running performance footwear of spring 2012,” noted Larry Eder, the president of Running Network LLC. “Any shoe that wins its category has done an outstanding job to earn the title of best shoe.”
“Neutral shoes have no additional stabilizing features. They are designed for runners with stable feet,” said Cregg Weinmann, the Running Network LLC footwear and apparel review editor.
During the testing process, shoes are carefully matched to the shape, motion and footstrike of 350 wear testers who run 100 miles in the shoes. Each tester reports their evaluations of the shoes throughout the testing process. Testers evaluate the shoes on seven key performance characteristics. This data is entered into a software system developed by Weinmann to produce a winner in each category.
The adidas Supernova Glide 4 has a new design that raises the stakes. The upper is breathable, engineered mesh that is both supportive and flexible. With the addition of memory foam the ankle collar’s new design adjusts to the heel shape. For added support the lacing connects to the logo stripes but is also articulated at the bottom for better flexion. The midsole still has a cushy feel but has been updated to give the user a better balance of resilience and responsiveness. The blown rubber formulation in the forefoot provides good traction and durability. A performance enhancing weight reduction, solid fit and responsive ride earned the Supernova Glide 4 the title of best shoe in the neutral category (Weinmann 2012).
“Fit well, was lightweight, and felt great while running. I wore them every day for the first week and put close to 60 miles on them, and they just keep going,” said one wear tester about the Supernova Glide 4.
“There are considerable similarities in the running footwear industry and consumers need to be aware that there are shoes from many brands that could work for them. We reviewed many fine shoes that should be considered because they fit and perform differently on different runners, so trying several is the only way to find the best shoe for you,” said Weinmann.
