QUEEN IS BACK, FAST WOMEN 600 M
MOSCOW
(RUS, Feb 6): The queen is back. Yelena Isinbayeva returned after
missing summer 2010 with two nice jumps at 461 and 481 (world lead)
before missing three times new meet record 491. At Russian Winter (IAAF
Permit) Svetlana Feofanova was second ahead of Czech Jirina Ptacnikova
and Aleksandra Kiryashova who tied for 3rd (all three 456). World
champion Ana Rogowska was fifth (446). World leader Ivan Ukhov cleared
easily 234 and then went for new Russian record height of 241, first
attempt was good. Aleksandr Shustov cleared 231 to beat Jesse Williams
on count back for second. Darya Klishina won the long jump with
excellent 682 ahead of Anna Nazarova (675) and Yelena Pidluzhnaya 670
(PB). Aleksandr Menkov was the best in men´s long jump (801). In the
sprints ever young Kim Collins won the 60 m in 6.60 over Peter Emelieze
of Nigeria and Trinidad´s Marc Burns (both 6.64), Czech record holder
Petr Svoboda dominated men´s 60 m hurdles (7.58). In women sprints Gabon
record holder Ruddy Zang-Milama won in 7.15 and US Danielle Carruthers
missed the meet record in the 60 m hurdles only by 0.02 with 7.94.
Statistically best result of the meet was the second fastest ever 600 m
by Yulia Rusanova 1:24.02. She clearly beat 800 m European Champion
Mariya Savinova 1:26.23. Also in the men´s 600 m fast meet record of
Kenyan Jackson Kivuna 1:15.69, third fastest ever and African record.
Second Richard Kiplagat 1:15.92 and third Ahmed Ismael of Sudan 1:16.16.
Best Russian Ivan Tukhtachev as fourth 1:16.80. Yevgeniya Zinurova won
the main 1000 m race in 2:36.32, but faster 2:35.21 and world lead was
achieved by Yelena Arzhakova in B-race. European indoor champion
Antonina Krivoshapka posted 51.98 to win the 400 m over Czech Denisa
Rosolova who improved her indoor best to 52.21. Two personal record wins
in national programme, shot putter Maksim Sidorov 20.56 and Aleksey
Konovalov in the 1500 m 3:40.97.

TAMPERE
(FIN, Feb 5): Sweden won men and women Nordic match against Finland and
Norway (men: 115-114-68, women 119-96-83). Impressive national record
for home jumper Osku Torro (233), also high quality Norwegian 60 m
hurdles by Christina Vukicevic 7.92 (also equalled the world lead).
Carolina Kluft was twice second (hurdles 8.26 and 60 m 7.45, here the
winner Ezinne Okparaebo 7.31). Norwegian fastest male Jaisuma Saidy
Ndure posted 6.69 at 60 m. Jonathan Astrand clocked at oversized track
here 20.87 at 200 m, what is all-time best for Finland. Stine Tomb of
Norway clocked at 300 m hurdles all-time best 40.09. Swedish jumping
domination as Michel Torneus leaped to 794 in long jump, Ebba Jungmark
PB 191 in high jump and 440 for Malin Dahlstrom in pole vault.
OTHER INDOOR RESULTS
GENT
(BEL, Feb 6) : New national heptathlon record of 5901 for European
junior decathlon champion Thomas Van der Plaetsen at the Belgian
national combined events championships. The 20-year old athlete closed
the first day with a total of 3204 and went on to improve on his hurdles
PB with a mark of 8.18 and on his pole vault PB with 510. Van der
Plaetsen closed the day with a total of 5901 to improve on the 5857
record held by François Gourmet. European championships fifth-placer
Hans Van Alphen came in second with 5747.
LANDAU (GER,
Feb 5): New meet records at pole vault event. Greek Nikolia
Kiriakopoulou cleared new national indoor record 451 to win and tried at
461. US Mark Hollis won the men competition (553) on count back over
Carsten Dilla (553).
NEUBRANDENBURG
(GER, Feb 5-6): Fourth from World juniors at 400 m hurdles Vang
Konigsmark improved in the 400 m to excellent 47.19 at age of 18. Ralf
Bartels achieved 20.07 in the shot put at this regional championships.
SPALA (POL,
Feb 6): Mariusz Kubaszewski beat with 7.80 at national meet Artur Noga
(7.84) at 60 m hurdles. Best result of the day by Ukrainian Oleksandr
Borysyuk 3:41.92 at 1500 m. In women 800 m Angelika Cichocka achieved
2:03.98.
SHEFFIELD
(GBR, Feb 6): At Inter City Meeting Tom Parsons again this season
cleared Paris qualifier 228 in high jump with Robbie Grabarz next 2.24.
Bernice Wilson competed once again during the weekend winng 60 m in
7.32. Holly Bleasdale, still only 19 improved her pole vault best to 450
and tried at new UK record 461 cm.

(FRA, Feb 6): World junior finalist from Moncton Pierre-Ambroise Bosse
clocked new French indoor junior record at 800 m 1:48.70.
ANCONA (ITA, Feb 6): Triple jump European champion 2009 Fabrizio Donato registered 17.03 m.

(ESP, Feb 5-6): Eusebio Caceres scored 5667 points to win Spanish
indoor U23 championships. As expected his best event was long jump
(781). Impressive also meet record in the 3000 m where Sebastian Martos
clocked 7:56.33.

Feb 5): At Akademik meet Inna Eftimova won the 60 m in 7.37. Returning
former world junior champion Tezdzhan Naimova was third (7.47). Petya
Dacheva got 14.12 in the triple jump. Viktor Ninov cleared 223 and
Nikolay Atanasov achieved 782 in the long jump.
SARANSK (RUS, Feb 5): World leader Mariya Kuchina won the Russian national junior title with 183 clearance.
BUDAPEST
(HUN, Feb 5-6): Serbian Mihai Dudas totalled 5867 points to win as
guest at Hungarian combined events championships, it is also new
national record. The title went to Attila Szabo for 5652. Vanya
Stambolova achieved 52.56 at 400 m, Turkey´s Merve Aydin improved her
indoor PB in the 800 m to 2:02.91. Barnabas Bene won the 1500 m in fast
3:42.16.
ALBUQUERQUE (USA, Feb 5): Another Canadian women shot put national record improvement for Julie Labonte with 17.28 m.

VITTORE (ITA, Feb 6): The IAAF CC Permit, 79th Cinque Mulini in Italy
was also European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country event. Senior team
title defenders were not succesfull, but both junior winners from 2010
were the best also this year. Portugal´s Conforlimpa won men´s
competition with 24 points ahead of French Provence 44 and title
defenders Bikila Toledo of Spain 45. In women competition Turkish
Uskudar Spor Kulubu won with 34 points just two points ahead of Maratona
Clube de Portugal (36) and Italian C. S. Esercito (60). Junior boys of
Fenerbahce from Turkey got 37 points and girls of Luch Moscow 31 as best
U20 teams. Individual winners in men´s 10 km Spanish Ayad Lamdassem
28:58 ahead of Portugal´s Yousef El Kalai 29:00 and Burundi´s Abraham
Niyonkuru competing for French team 29:01. Fourth another import
Tanzanian Pascal Sarwat running for Czech Kromeriz (29:09) ahead of
Manuel Damiao of Portugal 29:19 and Italian Andrea Lalli 29:21. In
women´s 6 km Turkish track European Champion Alemitu Bekele dominated in
20:28 beating Ana Dulce Felix and Sara Moreira, both from Portugal
20:31 and 20:38. Another Turkish Bahar Dogan followed 20:44 ahead of
Italian Nadia Ejaffini 20:46 and Briton Gemma Steel 20:57. Junior
winners were Russian Andrey Rusakov in boys 6 km (18:50) and Esma
Aydemir of Turkey in girls 4 km (15:17) beating Bosnian Desanka Ciro
(15:31). The European Clubs event in cross country has a rich tradition,
men started in 1962 and women were added in 1982.

Feb 5): Little known Mary Mananu (21:16) surprised East African cross
country bronze medallist Fridah Kaimuri (21:30) to win the junior
women’s 6km race in the NBK/Athletics Kenya Eastern Branch Cross Country
championship in Meru. Silas Muturi (23:00) won the junior men’s race
ahead of Daniel Kinyua (23:24) and Alex Mureithi (23:32). Former
Standard Chartered Nairobi International Marathon champion Pamela
Lisoreng (26:58) won the Administration Police Cross Country
championship senior women’s 8km race at Administration Police Training
College, Embakasi. Mukundi Mwangi (35:59) triumphed in the men’s race,

(ESP, Feb 6): British Stephanie Twell won Gran Premio Cáceres de Campo a
Través in Spain, two days after returning from a one month UKA London
Marathon training camp in Iten, Kenya. At 7.3 km she clocked 21:24 ahead
of 1500 m European Champion Nuria Fernandez 21:32 and Ethiopian
Firehiwot Goshu 21:34. Steeple specialists did not made it to the
podium. Milcah Chemos was fifth (21:44) and Eunice Jepkorir 6th (21:45).
Best European Sergiy Lebid of Ukraine won the men´s 11.3 km in 30:20
ahead of Ugandan Wilson Busienei (30:22) and best Spanish Antonio
