The 2011 Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon will feature ten men under 2:10 and 8 women with personal bests under 2:30, including the 2007 and 2008 champion. 2010 champion Bizunesh Urgesa is back to defend her title. The race is managed by Hugh Jone’s Pro Cam International group.
India has a strong running boom, with over twenty marathons and half marathons across the country. Their performances in the Asian Games give merely a hint of what kind of super sports power that India could become.
