Christope Lemaitre ran the second leg of the French 4 x 100 meter
relay team, and thanks to a tough anchor by France, they were
victorious in the final over Italy! Lemaitre took three golds in the
European Champs, first sprinter to do that ever,according to the most recent info! Lemaitre is the real thing, and his three golds helped France end as the second team in the European Championships! We will see more of Monsieur Lemaitre!

M4x100mR: Leimatre became the first sprinter in Euro Champ to win gold
in 100m, 200m and 4x100m R (previously Berger from NED won gold in
100m, 200m and anchored bronze medal winning relay in 1934). The
winning margin of 0.06 second is the smallest winning margin ever at
M4x100m relay at Euro Champ replacing 0.11 by URS in 1982. 0.25 tied
the largest difference between third and fourth (FRG in 1982).
W4x100mR: Best marks for places for 2nd (prev 42.54 by GER in 2002),
3rd (prev 42.69 by FRA in 1982), 4th (prev 43.10 by BUL 1982), 5th
(prev 43.38 by UKR in 2002), 6th (prev 43.36 by ITA in 2002), and 7th
(prev 43.96 by POL in 2002 and FIN in 1994). UKR won the first medal in
this event at Euro champ.
W1500m: First medal in this event for ESP as well as FRA. ESP won both
men’s and women’s 1500m. This is the first since 1974 when GDR won both
(Klaus Peter Justus for men and Gunhild Hoffmeister for women) at 1500m
in Euro Champ.
M3000mSC: Not only the winning time of 8:07.87 was a championships
record, but the second place time of 8:09.28 was faster than the old
championships record. Old EC record was 8:12.66 by Panetta from 1990.
Naturally 8:09.28 was the best mark for 2nd place, replacing Mark
Rowland’s marak of 8:13.27 from 1990. 0.49 second difference between
3rd and 4th was smallest ever in the EC replacing 0.55 from 1971 where
Sysoyev was third. The winning time is faster than the winning time
from 1992 Olympics (8:08.84 by M Birir) and also the fastest time in
Barcelona.
W5000m: Not only the championships record was broken, the best marks
for places for 2nd (prev 14:56.57 by Shokukhova in 2006) 3rd (prev
14:59.29 by Abeylegesse from 2006), 4th (prev 15:01.41 by Pavey from
2006) and 8th (prev 15:16.85 by Papp from 2006). TUR won first gold and
silver medal at this event at Euro champ. It was also the fastest
W5000m in Barcelona replaceing 15:15.32 by P Chepchumba from 2008.
1000m, 2000m, 300m, 4000m splits were all fastest ever (prev 3:04 for
1000m, 6:08.6 for 2000m, 9:11.13 for 3000m and 12:07.40 for 4000m).
MDT: Not only 68.87 is the championships record, but best mark for
place for second (prev 68.03 by Kanter in 2006) and 4th (prev 65.60 by
Hjeltnes in 1986).The winning throw is the longest throw in Barcelona
by European replacing 68.40 by Pestano from 2008 (note Delis (CUB)
threw 69.08 in 1985 in Barcelona).
MLJ: Not only the championships record (previsouly 8.41m by Emmiyan
from 1986) of 8.47m was set, but best marks for places for 2nd
(previously 8.21 by Tarus in 1998), 3rd (previously 8.12 by
Lukashenvich in 2006), 4th (previously 8.08 by Mazur in 1982), 5th
(previously 8.02 by Barkovskiy in 1969 and Tudor in 1990), and 6th
(previously 8.00 by Klauss in 1969 and Hernandez in 1990). 8.47 is the
longest MLJ in Barcelona replacing 8.32 by Emmiyan from 1990.
WHJ: First medal of any kind for CRO at WHJ in Euro Champ (Vlasic never
won a medal at the Euro Champ). It tied Euro Championships record.
Vlasic’s winning mark was highest WHJ in Barcelona by European
replacing 2.02 by Henkel in 1991. Best marks for place for 3rd (prev
2.01 by Bergqvist in 2006), 6th (Prev 1.95 by Myhalchenko in 2006) were
tied while the best mark for place for 8th was reset (previously 1.89
by Zinck in 1998 and Haugland in 1990).
W4x400mR: Best marks for place for seventh (3:28.74 replacing 3:29.31
by ITA in 1998) and eighth (3:29.75 replacing 3:31.83 by HUN in 1998)
were reset.
M4x400mR: First gold medal for RUS in this event at the Euro Champ.
