Zersenay Tadesse won the men’s title in 59:35 and Mary Keitany won the women’s title in 1:06:36. Congrats to Dathan Ritzenhein who took the bronze, here in 1:00:00, the second best EVER by an American, with only Ryan Hall’s 59:43 in front of him!

BIRMINGHAM (GBR, Oct 11): Kenyan world leader Mary Keitany (1:06:36) and Eritrean title defender Zersenay Tadese (59:35) won the World Half Marathon titles in Birmingham. For Keitany also another world leading mark of the year and second fastest ever if not taking into account slightly downhill courses in South Shields and Lisbon. For Tadese fourth consecutive title. Only two non-African medalists US Dathan Ritzenhein as third (1:00:00) and Russian women team as 3rd. Best individual Europeans were Inga Abitova of Russia as 9th (1:09:53) and Italian Daniele Meucci (18th, 1:02:43).
