Like the men’s semi finals, the women’s semi finals in the 100 meters are telling:
Semi final 1
Shelly Ann Fraser of Jamaica gets out great and does not stop, just running 10.79! That is the fastest time EVER run in Germany! The crowd goes nuts! Kerron Stewart runs to second (10.99), Lauryn Williams runs to third (11.01) and Debbie Ferguson-McKezie was fourth place (11.05).
Fraser looks tough, and she ran a great semi final. She will be tough in the final. Kerron Stewart was just behind her, but really, it is a separate race for third place. Lauryn Williams should be in that fight.
semi final 2
In the second semi final, Carmelita Jeter had an amazing start, and ran her personal best of 10.84! Wind negligible. Jeter was followed by Veronica Campbell Brown, Chandra Sturrup and Aileen Bailey. Muna Lee does not move on.
Okay, here are my picks for this one:
Carmelita Jeter, Shelly Ann Fraser, Veronica Campbell Brown.
