Tyson Gay showed that he is coming into form, with his fine 9.77 legal run at 100 meters, which equaled his American record set in Eugene in July 2008. Asafa Powell ran 9.88 for second place and Mike Rodgers was third in 10.03.
When Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt line up in Berlin for the 100 meter final, the world record is going to just be crushed!

Nice, deep, fast 1,500 meters, won by Asbel Kipruto Kiprop, the rock star of Kenyan distance runners, in 3:31.20. Juan Carlos Higuero ran 3:32.50 for sixth. Eight under 3:33!
In twelfth place was former Razorback Dorian Ulrey, who ran 3:35.23, a personal best, and more significantly, broke the A standard of 3:36.20 for Berlin-so Dorian is on the US team with Leonel Manzano, Bernard Lagat and Lopez Lomong!
Really glad that Kenenisa Bekele did not want to run “fast”. His “tactical win of 12:56.23 with six guys under 13:00 was pretty quick, in human terms. Dayron Robles is kicking butt and taking names with his 13.17 win today over Antwon Hicks and Dexter Faulk. David Payne did not have a good day in the hurdle office, with his eighth place in 13.87.
Nice seeing Kerron Clement win over Isa Phillips 48.09 to 48.11. Nice to see Danny McFarlane, who has got to be 100 this year, the grand old man of the 400 meter intermediate hurdles (when this guy started running, hurdles were made like steeple barriers-seriously, how long has been racing? He has to be 36. )
Dwight Phillips is doing that zen long jumper thing that he and Loren Seagrave have got him doing so well. The guy cranked 28-8, or 8.74m at Nike Pre-the longest jump since Mike Powell way back in 1991, when he got the world record! So, Dwight disposes of Irving Saldino, 8.61 to 8.27, with Fabrice Lapierre of Australia. Mr. Lapierre is a very, very dangerous jumper, and if I were watching for surprises, I would put my few pieces of gold on Phillips, with Lapierre to spoil.
Kerron Stewart ran 10.75, with Shelly-Ann Fraser in second in 10.91, Chandra Sturrup in third in 10.99, and Carmelita Jeter in 11.01 in fourth!
Sandra Richards showed her stuff once again, running 40.46 for the win, with Shericak Williams in second in 50.31. Allyson Felix was fifth in 50.94.
Maggie Vessey ran a personal best in the 800 meters, running 2:00.13 to win over Elisa Cusma Piccione of Italy, in 2:001.4, and Mayte Martinez in 2:00.21 in third. Vessey needs to hit 2:00.00 to make the A standard.
Maryam Yusuf Jamal of Bahrain ran the world leader 3:56.55, with Christin Wurth Thomas running 3:59.98, getting her under four minutes for the first time!
Gulnara Galkina and Yekaterina Volkova of Russia ran 9:11.58, and 9:17.40 with Ruth Bisibori Nyangau of Kenya in third in 9:17.85. To medal in Berlin in the women’ steeple will take under 9:10, that simple.
Olympic gold medalist Dawn Harper ran 12.55 for the win. Anna Jesien of Poland ran 54.31 to take Sheena Tosta and Melanie Walker, who seems to be coming into shape after a rocky start to her season.
Blanka Vlasic had a sub par day, losing at 1.97m? Antonietta DiMartino of Italy won at 2.00m.
Yelena Isinbayeva took the pole vault in 4.85m, with Yuliya Golubchikova at 4.70m and Svetlana Feofanova of Russia in 4.70m.
