Robert Louis Dreyfus, a man who has had vast influence in the world of sports, died on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the age of 63. He was battling leukemia for several years, according to several sources. Mr. Dreyfus’s career had given him access to some of the most colorful and iconic brands and players in the sports and media world-namely adidas, Saatchi & Saatchi, and in his most recent role at Infront.
Mr. Dreyfus will be remembered as the chairman of the board at adidas AG during much of its rebuilding, a member of the board of directors of Saatchi & Saatchi, one of the seminal global media firms, and as the chairman of the board of Infront, a global sports business firm launched in 2002. Among the properties he managed was the relaunch of Le Coq Sportiff, where he had owned 70 percent since 2001. Le Coq was re launched in the US in 2006, and closed down in May 2008.
For trivia buffs, Robert Louis Dreyfus was the cousin of Julie Dreyfus of Seinfeld fame.
