For the sixth consecutive season, Yelena Isinbayeva raised the world indoor record in the pole vault at the Pole Vault Stars Meeting in Donetsk, Ukraine.
The 26-year-old Russian did it twice this afternoon, first adding two centimeters to her previous record with a 4.97m [16-3 1/2] jump, before raising it again to 5.00m [16-4 3/4] on her second attempt.
The competition marked the 2009 indoor debut for Isinbayeva, the reigning Olympic, world and European champion. Today’s efforts were the 25th and 26th world records of her career.
At last summer’s Olympic Games, Isinbayeva raised her own world record outdoors for the second consecutive Olympic Games, clearing 5.05m [16-6 3/4].
