Duplantis wins his home meet with 605
UPPSALA (SWE, Mar 13): Pole vault king Mondo Duplantis also won the 4th edition of his meet, the Mondo Classic (WIT Silver). This time, he cleared four heights in his first attempt (565, 590, 600, and 605), and as a clear winner, he attempted the World record at 628. The first two attempts were solid. The next chance will be next week at World Indoors in Nanjing. In previous editions, he won with 592 (2024), 610 (2023), and 604 (2022). A packed hall with 2000+ spectators saw fresh European Indoor champion Emmanouil Karalis from Greece clear 600 cm in his third attempt 600 cm and deliver tries at an NR height of 605 (third attempt was the best). For the fourth time in his career, he cleared 6 meters or more. In third place, Sam Kendricks went over 590 SB in a very nice first attempt. Fourth Kurtis Marschall also 590 but in second attempt and Thibaut Collet fifth also 590 but in third attempt. 6th and 7th places for 580: Sondre Guttormsen and Ersu Sasma. The result list was completed by 8th Ernest Obiena, 9th Ben Broeders, and 10th Renaud Lavillenie, all 565.
