CHUNCHON (KOR, Oct 25): Ethiopian Adugna Takele who in September was a 10 000 m track medalist at African Games won the 69th Chosunilbo Chunchon Marathon in 2:09:40. Kenyan Nixon Kurgat was second 2:10:01 and Benjamin Kiplimo third in 2:10:36 personal best. Best Korean Kim Young-Jin 2:23:29 as 7th. In the national women race win for Lee Yeon-Jin who was timed with life-time best 2:41:53. Informs Tilastopaja.
OSAKA (JPN, Oct 25): Kenyan Daniel Kosgei won the fifth running of the Osaka Marathon with 2:13:46. Taiga Ito was 2nd in 2:15:32. Third Mongolia record holder Ser-Od Bat-Ochir 2:15:35. In the women’s race, Belarus Maryna Damantsevich clocked new course record 2:32:28 with Hisae Yoshimatsu 2nd in 2:37:48. Temperatures were 19 degrees Celsius with 39% humidity and 1.3 m/s easterly winds. Informs Brett Larner.
CASABLANCA (MAR, Oct 25): At the 8th Casablanca Marathon, Jonathan Kiptoo Yego of Kenya (2:10:41) and Alem Mokonnin of Ethiopia (2:31:02) were crowned champions. Philemon Baaru (2:10:56) and Luka Rotich (2:11:02) took the next top spots in the men’s race to make it a Kenyan 1-2-3. In the women’s race, Ethiopia swept the top three spots, Hayimanot Alemaheyu Shewe (2:34:22) and Askale Hurisa Tena (2:39:59) placed second and third respectively. There were 4000 athletes.
OTHER RESULTS
BOSTON (USA, Oct 25): Liz Costello and Trevor Dunbar were he winners at the Boston Mayors CC Cup at Franklin Park. Costello covered the women’s 5km course in 16:35, five seconds up on French Liv Westphal (16:40). 19 year old Mary Cain was next across the line in 16:46 with fellow 2013 world team member Cory McGee sixth to the finish in 17:29. Dunbar covered the men’s 8km in 23:17 to beat Jim Spisak (23:20). Tabor Stevens ran 23:28 to place third.
GENT (BEL, Oct 25): 1020 teams competed in the relays at the first leg of the Lotto Cross Cup. The Meetjesland team, anchored by Louise Carton, won the women’s contest. OEH won the men’s race, with Isaac Kimeli on the last leg. Both Carton and Kimeli won European u23 silver this year over 5000m.
LISBON (POR, Oct 25): Emanuel Rolim and Vera Nunes took the titles at the third Montepio 10km. Rolim won the men’s race in 30:40, while Nunes took her win in 34:36, beating multiple European medallist Jessica Augusto (35:55) who gave birth in June.
WASHINGTON DC (USA, Oct 25): Trevor Lafontaine of the USA (2:24:25 debut) and Jenny Mendez Suanca (2:45:56) won at the 40th Marine Corps Marathon. There were 30 000 runners competing.
CHOLET (FRA, Oct 25): Kenyans Stephen Ogari (29:09) and Betty Murungi (34:29) were the winners at the Cholet 10km. Abel Maina Ndemi came in second in the men’s race in 29:35. He was followed by James Kangogo (29:43) ensuring a Kenyan podium sweep. The women’s runner-up was Speciose Gakobwa (34:43). There were a record 2700 participants.
TORDESILLAS (ESP, Oct 25): Jaime Garcia Romo (31:00) and Gema Martin Borgas (35:47) are the champions from the 10km Villa Del Tratado Tordesillas. The half marathon crowns went to Moroccan Youness Ait Hadi (1:07:24) and Raquel Gomez Martin (1:18:48).
ST DENIS (FRA, Oct 25): The 22th St. Denis Half Marathon was won by Lengurisi Loitarakwai from Kenya (1:02:08) and Alice Mogire also of Kenya (1:11:45). Nancy Arusei (1:12:48) made it a Kenyan 1-2 in the women’s race. The men’s race was closer at the finish with the runner-up, Sammy Nyokaye clocking 1:02:13.
GUAYAQUIL (ECU, Oct 24): The top four finishers at the South American road mile championships on Saturday were: Carlos Diaz (Chile), Natalio Pensa (Argentina), Gladson Alberto Silva Barbosa (Brazil) and Rafith RodrÃguez (Colombia).
VANCOUVER (CAN, Oct 25): One of the North America’s most-scenic cities did not disappoint on Sunday at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Vancouver Half Marathon. Kenyan Paul Kimugul 1:05:25 and hometown favorite Natasha Wodak 1:18:53 were the winners.
FRANKFURT (GER, Oct 25): In the relays at Frankfurt Marathon men team Asics Frontrunner with Lukas Nägele, Martin Beckmann, Niels Bubel and Sebastian Hallmann achieved 2:19:51 to win. On the women side also Asics Frontrunner with Austrian Jenni Wenth, Leyla Emmenecker, Rike Westermann and Katharina Heining 2:38:57 to win.
VALLEY COTTAGE (USA, Oct 25): Brazilian Cisiane Dutra Lopes won USATF Open 20 km walk competition in Olympic standard at 20 km 1:34:21.
FUZHOU (CHN, Oct 25): At Chinese National Youth Games to note Zhang Deshun winning after 5000 m also the junior girls 10 000 m in 32:58.17 personal best which belongs to top ten junior results in the World 2015. Boys from Shenzhen province won 4×100 m in fast 39.35. In the 200 m semifinals the fastest 20.81 (0.0) by Liang Jinsheng. From Tilastopaja.
