So, who has the best streaks at the end of 2015? Here is what EME News found….
Ibarguen and Wlodarczyk on top in unbeaten streaks
LONDON (GBR): The list of unbeaten athletes in their championships events in 2015 is headed by two women. Poland´s hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk in 11 finals and Colombia´s triple jumper Caterina Ibarguen in 9 finals. Also Allyson Felix in 4 finals in the 400 m, Genzebe Dibaba in 3 finals in the 1500 m and Vivian Cheruiyot in three races at the 10 000 m. On the men side the dominant figures are Usain Bolt and Mo Farah. Bolt won all his 4 finals in the 200 m and 3 finals in the 100 m. Farah won his two 5000 m and two 10 000 m races. Slovak Matej Toth also won his both 50 km walk races. Ashton Eaton won his only decathlon. Ibarguen holds the longest current winning streak in athletics with 30 finals since November 2012. Her last loss was at Olympic Games 2012. Wlodarczyk is at 18 finals since July 8, 2014. Bolt´s winning streak is at 9 finals in the 100 m with last loss in Rome in June 2013 (to Justin Gatlin) and in the 200 m at 10 finals (last loss in Kingston at Jamaican Champs in 2012 to Yohan Blake). In his full career Bolt lost only 4 finals (Gay, Powell, Blake, Gatlin) in the 100 m and since 2008 lost only one 200 m final, at the mentioned Jamaican Champs 2012 to Yohan Blake. Farah is in 5000 m at 7 finals winning streak (last loss in June 2013 at Pre Classic in Eugene to Edwin Soi) and in the 10 000 m at 5 winning streak (last loss to Ibrahim Jeylan at World Championships in Daegu 2011).
