Our topics;
1. The 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Trials will be help d on February 3, 2024 in Orlando, Florida.
2. The race is managed by John and Betsy Hughes, of the local iconic running store, Track Shack. John, Betsy and their son put on 45-50 races a year. I met them almost 40 years ago when they began managing the Disney Marathon.
3. The course is honest and will make the elite marathoners of the US work for their positions. The weather should be moderately humid, with temperatures hitting 70-75 near the end of the race.
4. The men’s race lost Jared Ward, a 2016 Olympic team member, who pulled out last Tuesday.
5. The women’s race lost Molly Seidel, the 2021 Tokyo Olympic bronze, and a recent 2:23.07 PB at the Chicago marathon. Molly had a flare-up of a knee injury for the past month (rumored on LetsRun) and did not believe she could run hard for 26 miles with the current condition of her knee. 8. On the guy’s side, we see Connor Mantz, Clayton Young, Colin Bennie, Zach Panning, CJ Albertson, Galen Rupp, and Paul Chelimo, as well as in every trial, a big surprise to play a big role.
That means, we have no clue how this race will go, we suspect Connor and Clayton will not play around.
