1. Sound Running hosted Cross Country Champs in Austin, Texas. Wins by Katie Wasserman and Adriaan Wooldschott entertained the BRANDS, RETAILERS and key players. Jesse Williams continues to get it. put on races for the athletes and place them in arenas where they can be appreciated.
2. Nike NXN, now in 18th year was a sloppy, exciting mess. JoJo Jordan won the boys in 15:16.5 with Herriman won the Boys team. Addy Ritzenhein won the girls race in 17:10.6, with Academy (Colorado) leading 3 colorado teams to top positions
3. Cal International, won by CJ Albertso in 2:11.09 (his second 2:11 in 28 days. 27 men got under OT US of 2:18.00 and 14 women under 2:37.00, Grace Kahura, KEN, won women’s in 2:29.00.
4. Valencia, Sissa Lema, ETh won in CR 2:01.58, Kenenisa Bekele ran 2:04.19 in 4th, new Masters WR. Women won by Worku Degefa, who had not run marathon in 4 years, 2:15.51! Almaz Ayana, 2:16.53, Aussie women kicked but lead by Genn Gregson, 2:23.08, a PB by 5:18!
5. Happy Anniversary to Frank Shorter (4) and Bill Rodgers (1) on their wins at Fukuoka in the 1970s. Fukuoka was the defacto world champs of marathoning for decades.
