EURO INDOORS NEWS
OPENING CEREMONY: On Thursday after shot put qualifications and long jump men qualification O2 Arena will witness the Opening Ceremony of the Championships. It is planned as multi-media celebration of athletics added with top moments of Czech athletics in the history of the sport.
TURKEY: Turkish team in Praha is confirmed with 6 men and 4 women. The only technical event representative is returning long jumper Karin Melis Mey, rest are sprinters and distance runners.
EUROSPORT: The Paneuropean Sports station Eurosport will broadcast live most of the action at European Indoors from Thursday till Sunday on its second channel. European Athletics also plans to have the usual live stream from the event with top commentators Peter Matthews and Phil Minshull.
NORWAY: The daughter of 1984 Olympic high jump champion Dietmar Mögenburg of Germany will compete at the European Indoors on the Norwegian team. The 23 year old Katarina Mögenburg jumped a PB of 188 earlier this season and was then third at the Norwegian nationals. Her father won 5 European Indoor titles.
SPAIN: The Spanish team for Prague now numbers 30, due to the withdrawals of Eusebio Caceres and Manuel Olmedo. Olmedo got injured in the semi-finals of the Spanish indoors and has not recovered well enough to compete in the continental championships.
ROMANIA: Romania selected 17 athletes for the championships. The goal is to win 1-2 medals and 6-8 finalists.
