Hills are a magical elixir for some distance runners. Arthur Lydiard, the famous coach, put 8 weeks of his program into the hills. This writer would use 6-8 weeks in college to build on hills and then move back to the track. The strength work seemed to really help in a long season.
Your workout for the day is to warm up, 20 minutes moderate, 8-10 times 250m hills, jog down, 20 minutes moderate, and a slow cooldown.
