600 meters: David Rudisha runs 1:13.71!
“I would like to go through 46 seconds high or 47 seconds low in the 400 meters, and then, hold on over the last 200 meters.” Those were the words of David Rudisha the night before the Birmingham GP.
The race went out fast! Rudisha was leading as they broke, hitting the 200 meters in 23.25. Adam Kszczot chased Rudisha as David unwound those long legs and hit the 400 meters in 47.09, and, just kept flying!
David Rudisha ran down the final straight, and just did not tire, running 1:13.71 for the World Leader, and the fourth best time at this distance ever!
For the first time this season, at least in my eyes, David Rudisha looked like he was ready to roll. His splits were where he wanted them and his finish looked strong, he did not falter. In the mixed zone, David Rudisha, always gracious, had this to say about his race today, and the the road to Beijing!
“Today was not so bad. This is my first six hundred meters, so I guess it was difficult to judge the pace. I think I tried my best. It has been a bit of a struggle coming back from the injury last year. But, I am happy. I am still in good shape, so nothing to complain about. I am looking forward to next year’s world championship, and of course 2016-Rio! ”
