Today is either a 5k race or a 5k workout on a track at varying speeds.
The women’s 800 meters at the Commonwealth Games a few hours ago was like that. Mary Moraa, the eventual winner, increased the speed, then slowed it down, and then kicked over the last 200 meters. The big surprise in the race was third place, as Laura Muir, known as a 1,500-meter runner, outkicked six 800m specialists to take bronze in the 800 meters!
Your workout today is a 5k hilly race, or warm up, go to track, run 12.5 laps sprinting the straights and jogging the turns, and then, a cooldown.
