Good morning; this is the beginning of week 3 of the 2022 RunBlogRun Summer Cross Country Mileage Program. This is day 1, an easy day.
On Saturday, July 17, we had the women’s 10,000m. The race for 25 laps came down to the final 50 meters as defending champion Sifan Hassan, Letensenet Gidey, WR holder at 5k and 10k, and Hellen Obiri, Olympic and world champion, dueled.

How it must feel to have to dig in for those last meters to get your finish in a tough distance race. In the women’s 10,000m, Letensenet Gidey took the gold by holding off Hellen Obiri, and Margaret Kipkemboi. Margaret just went by Sifan Hassan, the defending champion at 10,000m.
This was first gold for Gidey, who had been out sprinted many times before. What a feeling!
Your workout today, July 18, 2022 is warm up, 45 minutes relaxed running, 5 x 150 meter stride outs, cooldown.
