So today is July 2, part of the 4th of July weekend. It is also week 3, day 6 of the RunBlogRun Recovery week.
Today, I wanted to speak about Josh Kerr. I interviewed Josh in the summer of 2021, just before he went to the Tokyo Olympics.
Josh Kerr is a Scottish athlete, competing for Brooks Beasts TC. He is coached by Danny Mackey. Danny loves being a coach and is a running geek. He spoke to us at the beginning of the pandemic and he was having a tough time not seeing his athletes each and every day, but he managed. Now he is back to coaching his athletes face to face.
Danny Mackey and Josh Kerr had planned Josh’s Olympic run for almost two years. That takes a lot of of faith and patience. In his rounds in Tokyo, Josh ran a perfect race, and made it into the final. In the final, as Jakob Ingebrigtsen was battling Timothy Cheruiyot, Josh made a bold moved, moving into the bronze medal position and almost taking the silver!
What will he do in Eugene, Oregon this year at the World Champs? That Men’s 1,500m will be quite tough.
Your workout today, is an easy 30-minute run, bike ride, or swim. Do something fun today as well.
