LAVILLENIE MORE THAN IMPRESSIVE 604 NR
ROUEN (FRA, Jan 25): Olympic winner Renaud Lavillenie showed a superb shape at the French Elite Tour meet in Rouen. He cleared right in first attempt overall French record 604 and did not touch the bar. Indoors only Sergey Bubka and Steve Hooker jumped higher. It was his fifth jump of the evening (567/1 – 583/2 – 593/1). But that was not all, he tried three times at World record height 616 cm. The crowds in the hall got crazy. Second Luke Cutts achieved not only 575 personal best but in first attempt new British record 583. Third Kevin Menaldo who equaled his PB 575 in first attempt and fourth Pawel Wojciechowski of Poland 575 in second, another standard for home World Champs in Sopot for him after injury break. In the women competition Czech Jirina Svobodova cleared 463 in jump-off with Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou who was second with 455. Third Vanessa Boslak 446.
