The second day of the Sainsbury Anniversary Games lived up to the hype, with great performances and well-time British performances. Jessie Ennis ran the 100 meter hurdles and long jump.
Mo Farah won the 3,000 meter with a 1:54.3 last 800 meters and Augustine Choge won the historic Emsley Carr mile, with sixteen men under 4 minutes.
While Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce ran 10.77 in the heats for a world leader, Blessing Okagbare won the final, in an African record of 10.79, with Barbara Pierre in second in 10.85.
Renaud Lavillenie cleared 6.02m a world leader, and made attempts at 6.16 meters, a new world record. That chase would have to wait until another day.
65,000 fans enjoyed a track meet fit for a king.

Larry Eder has had a 52-year involvement in the sport of athletics. Larry has experienced the sport as an athlete, coach, magazine publisher, and now, journalist and blogger. His first article, on Don Bowden, America's first sub-4 minute miler, was published in RW in 1983. Larry has published several magazines on athletics, from American Athletics to the U.S. version of Spikes magazine. He currently manages the content and marketing development of the RunningNetwork, The Shoe Addicts, and RunBlogRun. Of RunBlogRun, his daily pilgrimage with the sport, Larry says: "I have to admit, I love traveling to far away meets, writing about the sport I love, and the athletes I respect, for my readers at runblogrun.com, the most of anything I have ever done, except, maybe running itself." Also does some updates for BBC Sports at key events, which he truly enjoys. Theme song: Greg Allman, " I'm no Angel."
