Sigei and Kabuu
BERLIN (GER, May 5): Both winners of the BIG 25 Berlin clocked world leading 25 k times despite warm weather conditions. While Kenya’s Richard Sigei crossed the line in the Olympic Stadium in 1:13:34 fellow Kenyan Lucy Kabuu ran 1:21:37. High temperatures during the race made it impossible for the 29 year-old to come closer to the world record she wanted to attack. Mary Keitany (Kenya) established this mark three years ago in the BIG 25 Berlin with 1:19:53. In total 10 091 runners competed. Behind the Kenyan winner Daniel Chepyegon from Uganda was second with 1:14:17. Third placed Jacob Kendagor, who had won the Berlin half marathon a month ago, also clocked a sub 1:15 time (1:14:47). There was bad luck for Eritrea’s Ghirmay Ghebreslassie who intended to attack the unofficial world junior record of 1:13:17. The 17 year-old was denied a flight from Amsterdam to Berlin because of a visa problem. Agnes Mutune was second with 1:23:08, followed by Esther Chemtai (1:23:18) and Caroline Kilel (1:26:14), the Boston Marathon winner from 2011. Organisers are informing.
April and Burkovska course records
HANNOVER (GER, May 5): Despite warm weather conditions both course records were broken in the TUI Marathon Hannover: South Africa’s Lusapho April clocked 2:08:32 while Ukraine’s Olena Burkovska crossed the line in 2:27:07 PB. Adding races at shorter distances a record total of around 16,000 athletes took part. Thw winner was more than one and a half minutes ahead of second placed Mekuant Ayenew (2:10:05). Fellow-Ethiopian Samuel Getachew Demie took third (2:12:38) while Kenyans Jonathan Yego (2:13:18), Isaac Arusei (2:13:23) and Wilfred Kigen (2:13:41) followed in fourth to sixth places. Edinah Kwambai ran a fine debut in warm conditions with 2:29:49 and took second. Marta Megra was third in 2:31:05 while Agnes Cheserek was suffering in the final stages and clocked 2:39:36 for fourth. Information from the organisers.
Jeter vs. Shelly-Ann
SHANGHAI (CHN): Carmelita Jeter who is healthy after minor injury in Walnut will take on Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in a re-run of the Olympic 100m final at the 2013 Shanghai Diamond League meeting on 18 May. The American joins the star-studded 2013 roster along with two other reigning world champions unveiled today by organisers for the meeting in less than two weeks’ time. Jeter’s US compatriot Jesse Williams will compete in the men’s high jump against Olympic bronze medallists Robbie Grabarz of Britain and Qatar’s Mutaz Barshim, while Asbel Kiprop will take on his Kenyan teammate Silas Kiplagat over 1500m.
Lemos 11.13 South American record
CAMPINAS (BRA, May 4-5): Top results from Brazilian athletes. Ana Claudia Lemos won the 100 m in 11.13 (-0.2) what is new South American record. Second Franciela Krasucki 11.29. Lemos clocked in semifinals windy 10.93 (+2.2). In men 100 m Ailson Feitosa achieved 10.19 (+2.1) when favorite Bruno de Barros was disqualified. He clocked 10.17 (+2.7) in semifinal. But he confirmed his position with 20.61 200 m win. Jucilene De Lima improved in women javelin to 60.03 what is also Moscow standard for her. In the triple jump another World Champs mark for Keila Costa 14.37 (+0.2).
OTHER TRACK RESULTS
DUSSELDORF (GER, May 5): Pole Vault competition at Dusseldorf Airport was won by Bjorn Otto with 580. The conditions should be considered as an indoor competition. Otto then tried at 601. Second Malte Mohr cleared 570 and third Karsten Dilla 560. The other olympic medalist Raphael Holzdeppe no-heighted at 560, he competed in a special TV show the day before.
ROVERETO (ITA, May 5): Italian top sprinter from indoor season Michael Tumi clocked 200 m personal best 21.25 (+0.3). Jacuqes Riparelli posted 10.34 (-0.6) 100 m win.
PAVIA (ITA, May 5): At Graziano Della Valle Meeting (EAP Circuit) Briton Luke Lennon-Ford achieved 47.10 in the 400 m. Margherita Magnani won women 1500 m in 4:12.35.
AIX-EN-PROVENCE (FRA, May 5): At French Interclubs fast 49.10 in 400 m hurdles by Senegal´s Mamadou Kasse Hann. French Marathon record holder Christelle Daunay clocked 4:24.06 1500 m win.
ST. ETIENNE (FRA, May 5): European leading 200 m for Christophe Lemaitre 20.35 (+0.5) at another Interclubs meet. Valentin Lavillenie won the pole vault with 530 while his brother Renaud was 2nd at 110 m hurdles 14.59 (+1.2) and fourth in the long jump 719 (+1.2). The olympic pole vault winner also anchored the Clermont 4×100 m relay with 42.26 in fourth place, winning Aix-les-Bains had Lemaitre in the second leg (40.56).
STRASBOURG (FRA, May 5): Bouabdellah Tahri opened the outdoor season with 13:34.47 5000 m win, Benjamin Compaore got 16.78 (+1.3) in the triple jump and Quentin Bigot 74.89 in hammer. On the women side in this Interclubs section Melanie Melfort cleared 190 in the high jump and Emilie Tissot got 12:42.15 in the 3000 m walk.
REIMS (FRA, May 5): European champion Yohann Diniz warmed up well before European Cup with fast 18:33.32 in the 5000 m on the track. Junior Stella Akakpo clocked 11.56 (+0.9) in women 100 m.
TARNBY (DEN, May 5): Danish sprinting talent Kristoffer Hari (15) clocked another Danish youth record in the 200 m with 21.77 (-0.4). In senior 300 m Nick Ekelund-Arenander won with 33.77.
ROMA (ITA, May 5): Marzia Caravelli clocked at a local meet fast 13.05 (+0.1) at the 100 m hurdles.
JACKSONVILLE (USA, May 4): Improvement for 18 years US junior sprinter Kali Davis-White who clocked here at regional high school event 23.05 (+1.3).
MARIBOR (SLO, May 4): Snezana Rodic started with good 14.10 in the triple jump at Slovenian Cup meet.

SALZBURG (AUT, May 5): Kenyan Eliud Kiplagat won the Salzburg Marathon in 2:14:16 ahead team-mate John Kirui 2:15:40. Best woman from Kenya Joan Rotich 2:36:10.
TRIESTE (ITA, May 5): Daniel Abera Wedajo of Ethiopia won the 14th Maratona d´Europa in 2:17:54. Second Slovenian Mitja Kosovelj 2:21:28. In women race Hussein Kayo posted another win for Ethiopia 2:45:41 over Matija Kosovelj 2:49:37.
VANCOUVER (CAN, May 5): Kenyan winners at the BMO Vancouver Marathon. Thomas Omwenza 2:24:09 and Lucy Njeri 2:40:34. Interesting to see olympic marathon medalist 1996 and 2000 Eric Wainaina beeing 5th in 2:28:47 at age of 39. In the half marathon Paul Kimugul 1:04:18 and Canadian Natasha Fraser 1:15:17.
OKEKPE (NGR, May 4): Kenyan Moses Masai won here the 10 km road race in 29:39 and will get 25 000 USD first place bonus. Second Ugandan Timothy Toroitich 29:44 and third another Kenyan Yusuf Biwott 29:50. Deriba Merga was 5th
(30:54). Georgina Rono won the women category in 33:01 ahead of Ethiopians Zemzem Ahmed 34:31 and Sofia Shemsu 36:11.
GABORONE (BOT, May 5): Kenyas Luka Chelimo and Peris Jepkorir were crowned men’s and women’s winners at the Steinmetz Gaborone Marathon in the Botswana capital, writes africanathletics.org. Chelimo made his move in the last two kilometers to win the race in 2:15:25. Kenuyan runner up Ezekiel Tarus improved his lifetime best by over two minutes when he cross three finish line in 2:16:57 ahead of Another Kenyan Kenneth Kipkemoi (2:17:41) Jepkorir prevailed in 2:39:31. Namibia’s 22 year old Leena Ekandjo improved her lifetime best by over two minutes when she clocked 2:41:32. Veteran Zimbabwean Samukeliso Moyo (2:42:33) claimed the third place. In the accompanying 10 km fast 32:34 for Namibia´s Helalia Johannes.
BARCHI (ITA, May 5): Kenyan Nicodemus Biwott won the Colle-Marathon here in 2:20:07. Top woman was Croatian Marija Vrajic 2:59:23.

IN (GER, May 4): German marathon runner Irina Mikitenko won the Berlin Women Run in 34:11 at the 10 km. Second Lisa Hahner 34:49.
MONT ST. MICHEL (FRA, May 5): Kenyan Benjamin Bitok won the Marathon Mt. St. Michel in 2:12:15. He was followed by Ethiopians Wosen Zekele 2:12:42 and Beyene Soboka 2:13:04. Daketo Ayantu clocked 2:35:56 to be the top woman ahead of Aregu Lechisa 2:38:25 and Tigist Shetu 2:40:52.
GENEVE (SUI, May 5): Belarus Maksim Pankratau won the Geneve Marathon in 2:15:41, on the women side Gida Bekele Belaynesh of Ethiopia 2:45:44. In Switzerland living Eritrean Abraham Tadesse won the half marathon in new course record 1:03:55.
HALLSTATT (AUT, May 5): Kenyan Wycliffe Biwot won the 26th half marathon here in 1:04:06.
YVERDON (SUI, May 5): Swiss walking champions are Alex Florez 1:33:52 at the 20 km and Marie Polli 47:28 in the 10 km for women.
