Kszczot to debut in Karlsruhe
KARLSRUHE (GER): Ethiopian world indoor champion Genzebe Dibaba looks forward to a fast 1500 m for Karlsruhe on Saturday. Interesting to note double European CC Champion Fionualla Britton of Ireland to compete in women 3000 m againts Meseret Defar. Poland´s European indoor champion Adam Kszczot debutes here in the 800 m. His team mate and 2010 European winner Marcin Lewandowski runs the 1500 m.
T. Dibaba aims for meet record
BOSTON (USA): Olympic winner Tirunesh Dibaba aims to attack the meet record here at 2 miles. “Tere’s always a very high turnout here in Boston. It’s like a second home to me, and it’s among the best places I compete at. I’m trying to go for the meet record (9:10.50). That’s what I’ve been training for and that will be my aim for tomorrow,” she said. Top runner in women 60 m hurdles is Briton Tiffany Porter (against Canadian Jessica Zelinka and US Kristi Castlin), in women 60 m current world leader Murielle Ahoure of Ivory Coast.
British selection policy
BIRMINGHAM (GBR): British Athletics has announced the selection policy for athletes aiming for the IAAF World Championships in Moscow with the aim of selecting athletes with a realistic chance of making the final, as well as to develop potential future finalists. Head Coach Peter Eriksson has underlined the importance of the British Athletics World Trials and UK Championships in Birmingham on 12-14 July, by guaranteeing selection for the athletes that finish first in their event providing they have obtained the required A standard prior to, or on the day of the Trial. Reigning world champions Dai Greene, Mo Farah (at 5000 m) and 2012 Diamond League winner Robbie Grabarz will be pre-selected under IAAF rules subject to form and fitness, leaving three further slots in those disciplines available for GB & NI athletes. Selections for track and field and walk disciplines will take place on Monday 22 July 2013, with the team announced on Tuesday 23rd. The trial event for Marathon runners will be the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 21 April, with selectors meeting on Monday 22 April.

PORTLAND (USA): Former Oregon standout Luke Puskedra has joined the Nike Oregon Project and will train under coach Alberto Salazar. Puskedra, who finished his eligibility with the Ducks last year after a 4th place finish in the NCAA 10,000, will graduate from Oregon with a degree in Business Administration in March. “I’m really looking forward to joining the Nike Oregon Project and training under Alberto [Salazar]. I think it will be a smooth transition, as my coach at Oregon, Andy Powell, has learned a lot from Alberto, and I’ve already been doing some of the same workouts as the guys in the group.” The Ogden, Utah native will join former Oregon teammates Galen Rupp and Matthew Centrowitz, as well as Aurum client Dathan Ritzenhein. PARIS (FRA): French sprinter Véronique Mang is back in top shape she told athle.com. Mang lost the entire season of 2012 with small injuries but now prepares to do well as she debutes at the German indoor meeting of Karlsruhe on February 2nd. She is also set to compete at the German indoor meeting of Düsseldorf on February 8th and the meeting indoor national de Val de Reuil on February 12th.
BERLIN (GER): On March 1st the German Athletics federation in collaboration with the Athletics federation of Baden-Wurtemberg are opening a training centre for heptathletes and decathletes. Former decathlete Christopher Hallman will be leading the centre, that will be accesible for young athletes preparing for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
BERLING (GER): German pole vaulter Malte Mohr is set to start his indoor season in Karlsruhe on February 2nd but told leichtathletik.dehe is without high expectations. Mohr, who is now 26, said that previous injuries have allowed small technical failures when he is jumping and he is aiming to work on that. He did however confirm his main goal is the IAAF World championships in Moscow where he wants to win a medal.
ZAPORIZHZHYA (UKR): European Combined Events Cup multi medalist Hanna Melnychenko who scored at National indoor pentathlon championships 4623 points in pentathlon told to Ukrainian media she just started serious preparation for European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg. “I’m too far from my usual competitions shape yet. Now I’ll pay more attention for weightlifting trainings to raise my power which is definitely not enough now for good jumps and shot put. That is what I have to improve before European Indoors. Fortunately the foot’s injury which disturbed me during last summer season and at London Olympics is healed. So I can start my last deep preparations without any troubles” said 29-year-old Ukrainian.

PENZA (RUS, Feb 1): During the first day of Russian Youth Indoor National Championships in Penza Alyona Lutkovskaya (16) has set world indoor youth best in girls pole vault with 430. Young jumper from Irkutsk cleared record height in second attempt and tried 440. She is coached by former Olympic medalist (1980) and former world record holder Konstantin Volkov. Kristina Sivkova achieved national youth record in girls 60 m with 7.41.
SAMARA (RUS, Jan 31): At Samara Province’s Cup Beijing Olympic champion Olga Kaniskina clocked world season and personal best at 3000 m race walk 11:57.86. Igor Yerokhin won men 5000 m walk also with world leading 18:28.54 ahead of two Olympic champions Valeriy Borchin (18:43.33) and Sergey Kirdyapkin (19:28.35 PB). Fast 60m hurdles from Svetlana Topilina 8.04 PB and second placer Aleksandra Antonova 8.07sec. World indoor 2012 finalist Konstantin Shabanov clocked 7.70 to win the 60 m hurdles. Nadezhda Paleyeva finished first in the women 60 m 7.32 and 19-years old Kristina Khorosheva was second with PB 7.45sec. Yekaterina Konyeva leaped to 14.42 to win the triple jump. Viktoriya Dogacheva finished second with 14.35.
ORENBURG (RUS, Feb 1): Khristina Khorosheva and Yevgeniy Ustavshchikov won the 60 m at International meeting “Orenburg mile” with 7.30 and 6.60. Nigerian Patrick Chinedu was 2nd with PB 6.62. Yelena Kotulskaya (Kofanova) finished first in the 800m 2:01.14 ahead London Olympic bronze medalist Yekaterina Poistogova 2:01.78 and Ukrainian Olha Lyakhovaya 2:02.25 (PB). World indoor record holder Yelena Soboleva (4:33.88 – European season best) and Ukrainian Oleksandr Borysyuk (4:05.04) were best at the one mile distance.
TALLINN (EST, Feb 1): Kaarel Joevali leads the International Combined Events meeting in Estonia (EA Indoor Permit) with good 3456 points (6.90-204-767-13.88). Second 2009 European indoor champion Mikk Pahapill 3423 and third Brazilian guest Luiz Alberto de Araujo 3316. Another favorite Mihail Dudas of Serbia did not compete in the high jump after 7.02-702-13.05.

GRANOLLERS (ESP): OIympic winner Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda in his first race since London will run the 27th half marathon here. European champion from Barcelona Viktor Rothlin is also going to test his shape.
CASTELLON (ESP): At the European Champion Clubs Cup in cross country Spanish top runner will face European champion from Hungary last december Andrea Lalli. Olympic winner in the 1500 m Asli Cakir Alptekin runs the women race for Istanbul team (her first race since London) together with Ethiopian guest Hiwot Ayalew.
