Kenyan Gov to launch investigation
NAIROBI (KEN): East Standard informs that Kenyan Government will launch committee to investigate doping cases in the country. The Government will name a committee to carry out independent investigation over allegations by ARD German TV that doping is widespread in the country. Athletics Kenya Chairman Isaiah Kiplagat said plans are afoot to launch required investigation on the issue. He said the delay in the investigation was not deliberate but because AK had handed over the matter to the Government, who have the machinery to carry it out effectively. “We are in negotiation with IAAF to open up a new laboratory in Nairobi. IAAF is looking at ways to licence Kemri Laboratories as a certified centre sanctioned to carry such tests. But for the time being, we only have one place in the entire continent, in South Africa,” he said.
Tamgho skipping indoors
PARIS (FRA): French triple-jumper Teddy Tamgho announced on Monday that he would skip the upcoming indoor season, opting to concentrate on his preparations for the World Championships in Moscow next August. “I’m doing really well. I no longer have any apprehension,” the indoor world record holder (17.92m) stressed during a press conference at the National Insititute of Sport (INSEP) in Paris. “But in winter I don’t have much to prove. I want to do lots of preparation, to take my time, not to drift about and risk arriving tired at the World Championships in Moscow.” Reports supersport.com.
Feofanova not jumping in winter
MOSCOW (RUS): Two-time Pole Vault Olympic medalist Svetlana Feofanova is already recovered after tree fractures. Current European champion has fell and got hard injuries in London Olympic qualification. “Fortunately I didn’t need any surgeries after being injured. In spite of my bones has knit I didn’t begin my trainings yet” Feofanova informed All Sport News Agency. “As a matter of fact I’ll not compete during winter season 2013. I’ll have ‘hibernation’.” 32-years old Russian is going to start her serious practices from the beginning of the spring and will be focused on preparations for the World Athletics Championships in Moscow.
Lebid is not giving up
KYIV (UKR): Nine-time European Cross Country champion Serhiy Lebid postponed his dream about tenth title at least for a year. 37-years old Ukrainian runner was aiming to take his tenth win at the last CC Champs in Hungary on Sunday but finished only 15th. “The cold Hungarian weather played a nasty trick upon me. I was frozen even before the start of our 10 km race. During the course I have been feeling so cold that my legs turned into ‘stones’. But I’m not going to yield to circumstances. I have enough time for preparation for the next European Cross Country Championships. My dream about 10th title is still alive and I’ll do everything possible to make it true” said Lebid to national media.

NEW DELHI (IND): Three days after de-recognising two federations, Indian Sports Ministry issued a notice to the Athletic Federation of India (AFI) to remove a few contentious clauses from its constitution and hold re-elections for the post of president and secretary.The development triggered off speculations that the AFI could be the next federation to be de-recognised after the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) and the Archery Association of India (AAI) according to Financial Express.
STOCKHOLM (SWE): Thursday, 22 August 2013 is a date well worth a note because that’s when DN Galan Samsung Diamond League will take place at Stockholm Olympic Stadium. Spectators are offered to buy tickets to DN Galan before 1 January 2013 together with tickets to the annual match Sweden-Finland for half price. DN Galan is the first Samsung Diamond League meet after the IAAF World Championships in Moscow which ends Sunday 18 August. Olympic Stadium will host the traditional match Sweden-Finland on September 7 and 8, 2013.
