The thirtieth edition of the FBK Games/ Hengelo will be long remembered.
From the Ethiopian Trials at 10,000m, to the women’s 100m hurdles. Great athletes have journeyed here, and new ones come each year as well.
In the women’s 100m hurdles, watch for LoLo Jones and Daniele Carruthers, who have both laid claim to global medals. The U.S. trials, held in a few weeks will show how challenging it will be to make the 100m hurdle squad.
Philips Idowu, the great British Triple jumper, is fresh off his victory in Shanghai, over Americans Will Claye and Christian Taylor. Idowu has made it clear that London is his major goal. Fbk Games fits perfectly in his schedule.
The 1,500 meters, for both men and women, should be fast, with distance runners just weeks away from Trials and selection.
The men’s 10,000 meters may be the race of the meet. Haile Gebreselassie, Kenenisa Bekele, Dathan Ritzenhein, Simon Bairu, and many others give this event it’s prestige.
The meet starts at 4pm local time and ends around 7pm, with the 100 meters for men. The 10,000m is scheduled for 5:55 pm local time, or 11 am eastern time.
