THIKA
(KEN, Mar 24): Kenya’s emerging marathon star Lucy Kabuu produced a fine
performance over 5000 m on the track before again switching her attention to
road racing next month. She clocked at altitude 15:40.0 at the National Bank of
Kenya/Athletics Kenya Meeting. Her next target is London Marathon on April 22.
Second Gladys Cherono got 15:40.2 and third Joyce Wanjiku 15:43.0. In the 1500
m the win for Mary Kuria in 4:17.4. Men´s race was faster with Elijah
Kipchirchir getting 3:37.0 ahead of Nicholas Kipchumba 3:37.2. Lawrence Kemboi
was the best in the steeple 8:51.2.
ARLINGTON
(USA, Mar 24): World leading sprints at Bobby Lane Invitational. Darvis Patton
won the 100 m in 10.04 (+1.1) ahead of Carlin Isles 10.24 and Cordero Gray
10.25 (fast also Charles Silmon in another race 10.22 +1.5). World Champs
bronze winner Wallace Spearmon clocked his first sub 20 (and first of the year)
since 2010 with 19.95 (+1.8) clearly ahead of 400 m star Jeremy Wariner 20.53
and Canadian Jared Connaughton 20.54. In women 200 m also fast 22.94 (+1.3) for
LaShauntea Moore.
EL PASO
(USA, Mar 24): World leading high jump for French Mickael Hanany who cleared
231 at UTEP Springtime Invitational. Quarter-miler Gil Roberts posted personal
bests at 100 m (10.37, -1.2) and 200 m (20.54, -0.6). Unknown Vernon Norwood
hugely improved to 45.72 in the 400 m and Omo Osaghae clocked 13.65 (-1.2) at
110 m hurdles.
ORLANDO
(USA, Mar 24): UCF Invitational saw Travis Padgett getting windy 10.21 (+2.3)
over Keith Ricks (10.22). Also the 200 m was wind-aided as Everett Walker got
20.53 (+2.3). Briton Abi Oyepitan was also a windy winner of the women 200
m in 22.75 ahead of Octavious Freeman 22.92. But luck with the wind for
Jamaican Simone Facey with 11.32 (+2.0) in the 100 m. Tiffany McReynolds
achieved 13.04 at 100 m hurdles (+1.9) and Clemson 43.50 in women 4×100 m.
COLUMBIA
(USA, Mar 24): Baskin Invitational registered good throws. Kurtis Roberts 20.33
in the shot put, in hammer AG Kruger 75.46 and Amber Campbell 70.59. Johnny
Dutch scored a nice hurdles double with 13.67 (+1.1) and 50.66.
TUSCALOOSA
(USA, Mar 24): World medalist Kim Collins (will be soon 36) opened his outdoor
campaign with solid 10.32 (0.0) at Alabama Relays. Tiffany Townsend was the
best in the women 100 m in 11.38 (0.0).
LOS
ANGELES (USA, Mar 24): Second day of Trojan Invitational saw Canadian talent
Aaron Brown getting personal best 10.25 (+1.0) in the 100 m. Lifetime bests
also for top two in the 200 m, Amer Webb 20.46 (+1.3) and Prezel Hardy 20.59.
Josh Mance won the 400 m in good 45.65 and Reggie Wyatt 49.95 in the 400 m
hurdles. Solid also the 800 m won by Michael Preble in 1:46.43 ahead of Elijah
Greer 1:46.84. USC posted 3:02.24 in the 4×400 m ahead of Texas AM 3:03.16.
ATHENS
(USA, Mar 24): George Kitchens at age of 28 achieved his first ever legal 8
meters mark in the long jump at Georgia Relays with 814 (+0.8). He won with
windy 827 (+2.7), his previous legal best was 798 from 2009 and in his records
also windy 823 from being 3rd at US Nationals in 2009. But he did not had legal
A standard and could not compete in Berlin. Carl Morgan of Cayman Islands
was second also personal best 802 (+1.2). Interesting to note the 72.35 in
javelin by supervet Roald Bradstock who will be on April 29 50 years old. He
can well then improve the world masters record of 50+ category which is
currently at 71.01 by Spanish Luis Nogueira from 2007.
HIGH
POINT (USA, Mar 24): Jamaican Dane Hyatt posted 45.80 to win the 400 m at the
Vertklasse Meeting.

CULLOWHEE
(USA, Mar 24): World indoor relay gold medalist from Istanbul Manteo Mitchell
achieved another 200 m personal best 20.51 (+0.1) here.
KINGSTON
(JAM, Mar 24): Jason Young and Carrie Russell completed the sprint doubles at
the 51st Intercollegiate Track & Field Championships, which ended Saturday
at the Usain Bolt Track, UWI, Mona.
Young ran 21.05 into a negative wind -5.1 while Russell did 23.86,
against -2.4. Odayne Richards achieved in the shot put good 19.64. Nicholas

(TRI, Mar 24): CAC javelin junior record holder Keshorn Walcott fired a warning
to his regional colleagues ahead of next month’s Carifta Games in Bermuda with
a commanding win in the men’s javelin event on the opening day of the 2012
Southern Games with 71.34 m. Jamaican Sheldon Mitchell ran away with the men’s
invitational 100m in 10.49.
YALTA
(UKR, Mar 25): Mykyta Nesterenko won the Ukrainian U23 discus title (winter
throwing) with 61.62. Vira Rebryk throwing out of competition in women javelin
good 62.23. New masters world record in hammer throw for 45+ age by Alexandr
Dryhol with impressive 76.55 m. He was
also there as a guest.
WAITAKERE
(NZL, Mar 25): Last day of New Zealand Championships saw as top marks javelin
79.37 by Stuart Farquhar and 50.83 in the 400 m hurdles by James Mortimer.
Nikki Hamblin returned after injury with 4:19.63 win at the 1500 m.

(POR, Mar 24): Portugal won the Iberian 10 000 m Trophy. In the men race
Spanish title for the overall winner Manuel Angel Penas 28:17.69. Second Kenyan
guest Emmanuel Bett 28:18.93 and third Jesus Espana with personal best 28:26.27.
Fourth best Portugal runner Jose Rocha 28:37.95. In the women race Gema
Barrachina won in world leading (and Spanish title) 32:08.54. Second and

(ESP, Mar 25): Kenyans dominated at the Zurich Maraton of Barcelona. Julius
Chepkwony achieved 2:11:14 ahead of Japhet Kipkorir 2:11:31 and Willy Kimutai
2:11:34. Fourth Ethiopian Samuel Woldemanuel 2:11:47 ahead of Ukrainian Ivan
Babaryka 2:11:48 personal best. 8th place for best Spanish runner Jose Carlos
Hernandez with olympic qualifier and lifetime best 2:11:57. In the women race
new course record for Kenyan Emily Samoei (31) who clocked her first sub 2:30
with 2:26:53. Second Ethiopia Eshetu Degefa with 2:29:52. Third place for
Spanish Elena Maria Espeso who improved to olympic qualifier 2:30:52. Fourth
place for junior Ethiopian Birhane Dibaba 2:33:07. Among 19 500 runners also
European medalist Chema Martinez who gave up at 28th km.
LISBON
(POR, Mar 25): World record holder Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea won the 22nd
edition of Lisbon Half Marathon with 59:34 (20 km split 56:24), his ninth sub
one hour in the career (in all races) and third win here in a row. He was
the only one this time with sub one hour, second Kenyan John Mwangangi 1:00:44
and third Lucas Rotich 1:01:00. Impressive fourth for 2004 Olympic medalist at
1500 m Rui Silva in 1:02:40 personal best. Behind him group of Africans headed
by Gilbert Masai also 1:02:40. US
Olympic 10k medalist and London Marathon bound Shalane Flanagan won the women
race in 1:08:25 what is new course record on the new one since 2008 (20 km
1:05:08) ahead of Kenyans Diana Chepkemoi 1:09:08, Margaret Muriuki 1:09:21 and
Peninah Arusei 1:10:24. Best European was fifth Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia
(1:10:37), sixth winner from 2007 Rita Jeptoo 1:10:50 ahead of best home runner
Dulce Felix 1:11.18. Dutch Lornah Kiplagat was 9th in 1:12:19.
MILANO
(ITA, Mar 25): Ethiopian co-favorite Jacob Yarso won the 41st Stramilano Half Marathon
in 1:01:07. Italian Andrea Lalli confirmed improved shape after recent training
in Kenya with excellent second place and personal best 1:01:11. Third Kenyan
junior Limo Kiprop in 1:02:30. Italian runners ruled in the women race. Valeria
Straneo clocked 1:08:48 ahead of Anna Incerti 1:10:36.
WARSZAWA
(POL, Mar 25): Arkadiusz Gardzielewski won the 7th Warszawa Half Marathon in
1:03:30 ahead of Yared Shegumo who has Polish citizenship and debuted in
1:04:15. Women race was also 21st national championships. Title for Aleksandra
Jawor in her debut 1:14:36. She was overall second behind Belarus Volha
Mazurenok 1:14:25.
CARTAGO
(CRC, Mar 24): Anibal Eduardo Paau of Guatemala won the 20 km race at first
Central American Walking Championships with 1:26:13.
