half marathon when Girma Berhanu achieved 1:01:59 ahead of Rachid Kisri 1:02:17

and Moroccan Nasef Ahmed 2:18:54.

(JAM, Jan 29): Olympic medalist at 100 m Sherone Simpson posted fast 51.42 at
the 400 m during Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet at the National Stadium. Second
Anneisha McLaughlin 51.89 and third hurdler Nickiesha Wilson 53.94. Olympic
winner 2008 Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won her heat in 55.72. Melaine Walker, the
2008 Olympic and 2009 World 400 metres champion, had a close early battle
with MVP teammate Sherika Williams in their 200m heat before the latter pulled
away to win in 23.12, a good time for this early in the season. Walker was
second in 23.46 and Shereefa Lloyd was third in (23.65). Michael Frater, a finalist
in the men’s 100m Beijing and a relay gold medallist at the same Games,
ran 21.54 for third in heat one of the men’s 200m behind the winner Edino
Steele of Racers Track Club (21.23). Jamaican media are informing.

(ITA, Jan 29): Despite tough windy conditions, reigning 50 km Olympic champion
Alex Schwazer clocked an impressive 2:28:10 in the 35 km at the Winter Walking
Trophy in Latina. Schwazer showed very good going through the 10 km mark in
43:18 and the 20 km in 1:26:18 before unleashing a very strong final 10 km
split which he clocked in 40:34 (20:31 between 25 and 30 km and 20:03 between
30 and 35 km with a final km split in 3:55). Schwazer beat Chinese Wang
Zhen (2:31:29) and Giorgio Rubino (2:33:52). „It was an important test to
assess my shape at this point of the season. I didn’t think I would
walk so fast. This means that everything is going in the right direction. My
first goal is to qualify for the 50 km in Dudince on 24 March”, said
Schwazer. Elisa Rigaudo also produced a strong
performance by winning the 20 km women’s race in 1:31:56 holding off her
training partner Liu Hong in the final straight after an exciting final sprint.

Andrew Robertson who twice ran 6.65.
