for the Inaugural B.A.A. Distance Medley
Opens January 25, 2012
BOSTON – The
Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that registration for the
inaugural 2012 B.A.A. Distance Medley will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday,
January 25, 2012, and continue until Tuesday, January 31 at 5:00 p.m. ET. During
this exclusive medley registration window, runners interested in running all
three of the B.A.A. Distance Medley events will have the opportunity to sign up
for the three-race series. Medley registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org.
The B.A.A. Distance Medley will begin with the B.A.A.
5K on April 15, 2012, followed by the B.A.A. 10K on June 24, and
the B.A.A. Half Marathon,
presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund on October
7. Each of the three races will have its own prize purse. In addition,
the male and female B.A.A. Distance Medley champions will earn $100,000 in
prize money. The individual male and female champions will be determined by
their cumulative time over the three races.

Everyone
who completes all three races will be awarded a special commemorative medal for
the series in addition to receiving a finisher’s medal for each race. Those
who register for the B.A.A. Distance Medley, during the exclusive registration
window (January 25 – January 31), will have their performances posted to the
B.A.A.’s Distance Medley web page and will be issued special bib numbers
in each of the three races, indicating they are B.A.A. Distance Medley
participants.
The week-long B.A.A. Distance Medley registration window of
January 25 – 31 is only available to runners who would like to sign up
for all three events. Minimum age for the B.A.A. Distance Medley is 14-years
old. Runners interested in registering for only one or two of the three events
must do so when registration opens for those individual races.
In addition to the registration date for the full three-race
B.A.A. Distance Medley, the B.A.A. has established the registration dates for
the individual events if space remains available at the close of the B.A.A.
Distance Medley registration.
