TAMGHO WILL MISS INDOORS
PARIS (FRA): World triple jump indoor record holder Teddy Tamgho is
slowly rehabilitating the injury that has kept him from competing at the
World Championships in Daegu. Tamgho admitted he was not feeling well in
Ostrava but was eager to win the European U23 championships and will
have to listen more carefully to his body in the future in order to
avoid injuries. Tamgho will not compete indoors but will be 100% fit for
the London Olympic Games according to L'Équipe.

NY AVERAGE DOWN TO 2:07:32
NEW YORK (USA): New York Marathon course record, 2:05:06, is 7th fastest
in the world and US All-Comers except of Boston 2011. It was only 30th
fastest until this Sunday. Jaouad Gharib ran the fastest marathon by 39
years old. He also ran his 11th sub-2:09 marathon of the career, tying
the record by Sammy Korir. Tsegaye Kebede ran 10th sub-2:09 marathon.

Geoffrey Mutai ran 4th sub-2:06 marathon, tying Makau's total, but one
behind Haile Gebrselassie. Emmanuel Mutai ran 6th sub-2:07 marathon,
tying total by Wanjiru and Kebede, but still behind Haile's total of 10.

Tsegaye Kebede ran 8th sub-2:08 marathon of his career, second only to
Haile's total of 10. The average of top 5 times by Geoffrey Mutai is
2:05:03, ahead of Patrick Makau's average of 2:05:07, but still behind

the leader Haile Gebrselassie (2:04:57). The top 10 average for New York
Marathon has improved to 2:07:32 from 2:08:18. The top American female
was Molly Pritz. Running her debut marathon, she finished 12th in
2:31:52. A Bucknell graduate now training under Mark Hadley, Pritz plans

to compete in the Olympic Trials this January. In All-Athletics.com
marathon rankings 2011 NYC is number four behind London, Berlin and
Chicago. It showes an improvement as in 2010 and 2009 NYC was at the end
of the year number 7.


MESSIER 4:14:21, BUT OHNO WAS MUCH FASTER
NEW YORK (USA): In special guest department of results from New York
City Marathon to mention Ice hockey player Mark Messier with 4:14:21.
Also actor Mario Lopez (4:23:30) or model Christy Turlington-Burns
(4:20:47) with short track speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno who was more
than solid in 3:25:14. Football Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar of
Netherlands posted 4:19:16.

MAGGI PLANS TO DEFEND HER OLYMPIC GOLD

SAO PAULO (BRA): Fresh Pan-Am gold medalist Maurren Higa Maggi stressed
after return home that her ultimate goal for 2012 is to defend her
olympic gold from Beijing. She won in Mexico her third Panamerican gold
in the long jump. Maggi also won the South American title and the only
disappointment was the 11th place in Daegu after a very good mark in the
qualification. "I have no explanation of what happened there. The only
thing: lack of luck. I was in very good condition," explained the long
jumper who will start her olympic preparation in two weeks in the
Ibirapuera Park in Sao Paulo.

OSAKA (JPN): After Olympic winner 2004 Mizuki Noguchi also other
Japanese runners commited to run the Osaka Ladies Marathon in January.
Azusa Nojiri and Yuri Kano will compete there in an attempt to qualify
for London Games. Reiko Tosa will run Nagoya in March, while Yoko
Shibui will run either Osaka or Nagoya. Male 2:08:40 runner Arata
Fujiwara lost his sponsorship with remosystem. The financial trouble of
the company was mentioned as the reason.

RABAT (MAR): Another top former athlete supporting Doha bid for IAAF
World Championships 2017 is the former World champion at 400 m hurdles
Nezha Bidouane of Morocco.

WARSZAWA (POL): Poland´s 800 m runner Anna Rostkowska gave birth to a
daughter recently. Little Olga was born on October 29 (3.12 kg and 54
cm) and is together with mother in good condition. Father Piotr
Rostkowski is not only her husband but also the coach and former
national record holder at 1500 m 3:35.62 in 1997. The 31 years old
Rostkowska was Beijing 2008 and Berlin 2009 semifinalist and clocked
1:58.72 life-time best as 4th at Paris DL meet in 2008. She plans return
to training already in December.

KINGSTON (JAM): Racers TC website informs that talented 400 m hurdles
Ristannana Tracey will undergo a hand surgery this week. Everyone is
aware of the broken arm of Ristananna Tracey. Many will remember her
performance in the 400m hurdles at the Daegu World championships,
running with her hand in a cast. Since joining Racers, she has been seen
by a specialist who was monitoring the healing process, which had
already started. The cast now off, the decision is that surgery is a
must. This will take place on Wednesday. She improved this year to 54.58
what is continental junior record.

BRUSSELS (BEL) : Organizers of the Belgian cross country circuit Lotto
CrossCup have stressed that they have not invited former long distance
star Mohammed Mourhit to the race in Roeselare this weekend. Organizers
claim the athlete is free to show up for the race but has not been
officially invited. Mourhit sat out a two year doping suspension and
retired from the sport, however he is trying for a comeback in the sport
in the hopes of competing in London next year.

BRUSSELS (BEL): Belgian hurdler Damien Broothaerts has been suspended
for 2 years following three offences against the whereabouts system and
a positive doping test in August this year. In a strange string of
events, Broothaerts had organized a press conference to announce the
one year suspension he received for two whereabouts failures and a
missed test. However, at the same time, the Walloonian athletics
federation (LBFA) reported to journalists Broothaerts had also failed a
test for Methylexanamine when competing locally in August. Broothaerts,
who didn't know about the positive test, claims he has never used
prohibited substances and will fight the sentence he received reports

PARIS (FRA): French triple jumper Benjamin Campaoré, who finished 8th at
the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, is already back in training with
the aim of medaling in London next year. Campaoré has been slowed down
with injuries in the last years but hopes to stay injury free in the

BYDGOSZCZ (POL): The traditional Golden Spike Sport Gala in Bydgoszcz on
Friday saw pole vault world champion Pawel Wojciechowski and
multi-events exponent Karolina Tymińska awarded the Golden Spikes which
go to the best Polish athletes of the year reports European Athletics.
Wojciechowski finish ahead of Adam Kszczot, who won the 800m titles at
the European Athletics Indoor Championships and, like Wojciechowski, at
the European Athletics U23 Championships in Ostrava. There is also
another vote in the country, organised by the media and Polish Athletics

LONDON (GBR): London 2012 confirmed all the communities through which
the Olympic Flame will be carried by Torchbearers during the Olympic
Torch Relay with over 95 per cent of the British population to be within
just 10 miles of it at some point during its 8,000 mile journey across
the UK. The 70-day relay, which will presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB
and Samsung, will pass through 1,018 villages, towns and cities with
street by street details to be confirmed next year. In a unique twist,
the Flame will travel via different methods of transport including
horseback, bicycle, tram and steam-train with many Torchbearers set to

LAUSANNE (SUI): European Athletics opened the vote for the European
Athlete of the Month Award for October. The road running season kicked
off in earnest in October with hundreds of thousands of Europeans taking
part in many of the major city marathons taking place throughout the
world. Although African runners have a clear dominance on the men's
side, European women had their fair share of success. European Athletics
is pleased to announce that athletes from 11 countries have been
nominated for the award. The voting will close on Monday 21 November.

LONDON (GBR): London's bid to stage the 2017 World Athletics
Championship is "head and shoulders" above that of Doha, UK Athletics
chairman Ed Warner has claimed according to Insidethegames. The two
candidates go head-to-head in Monte Carlo on Friday and Warner says he
is as confident as he can be that London will secure sufficient votes
among members of the International Association of Athletics Federations
(IAAF) Council, who will make the decision.

ABUJA (NIG): Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN president, Solomon
Ogba is laid low in Abuja as funds needed to run a comprehensive
programme for the London 2012 Olympics are slow in coming from
government officials. The AFN had planned to start an early preparation
for its athletes ahead of the London Olympic Games but the effort is
doomed to fail as the National Sports Commission is yet to secure any
funds according to Allafrica.com.

HONFLEUR (FRA, Nov 6): Burundi´s Willy Nduwimana won the Semi Marathon
de Normandie in 1:04:00. Ethiopian Ehite Gebireyes was the best woman in
1:12:56.

BARINGO (KEN, Nov 6): Joyce Jepkurui won the inaugural women's race in
the seventh edition of the Baringo Safaricom Half Marathon in 1:10:59.

Male winner Solomon Kiptoo achieved 1:02:23 ahead of Peter Kosgei 1:02:39.

BERLIN (GER, Nov 5): European 1500 m medalist Carsten Schlangen is back
after calf injury. He won the regional CC championships in Berlin area
at 4.6 km in 14:44.
