Tyson has partnered with Abbott’s EAS Sports Nutrition, to be a spokesperson for the 100% Percent Certified, products that are third party tested to insure that no banned substances on the US Anti-Doping list can be found in any of the training products. As you can see from the interview, he is using the EAS products, as he cuts back from comfort food to fuel for the sprint engine that he is.
Tyson Gay had a day full of interviews today, and RBR was fortunate enough to get ten minutes with him this morning. Tyson, was, as always, thoughtful, and straight forward. He is already focused on 2012, and he gave us some insight into his recovery and noted that he begun jogging, for the first time since the injury and the subsequent surgery.
Think about that final, in London next summer: Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell, Walter Dix, and ….?
Thanks to the team at EAS Sports Nutrition for the interview time today!
RBR, #1: How is your recovery going?

Tyson Gay: The recovery is going well. I have several tests, including a lateral test soon, and once I do those, I should be able to start training.
RBR, #2:

Have you started training?
Tyson Gay:

A week and half I started jogging on the grass. It felt okay. I may feel a little niggle right now, but, that is expected.
RBR, #3: Tell us about the EAS 100 percent Certified Program?
Tyson Gay: I have a much more personal take on the product. I use EAS Myoplex. Abbott Labs, (owner of EAS), tested the product, guaranteeing that the EAS products are 100 percent free of any banned substances. I am using the product more and more after practice.
RBR, #4: Does your support of the EAS 100 Percent Certified program come out of your partnership with USADA in Project Believe?
Tyson Gay: I am involved in Project Believe. I am concerned more now about what I put into my body. I am 29, so I have to watch things (a slight bit of laughter).
RBR, #5: Why should young athletes consider EAS 100 % ” Tested and True”?
Tyson Gay: It is a safe product, you can go on EAS.com and you can get the products that are 100 percent certified good for the athlete to use. They are 100 % free of banned substances. You can learn what to take and what to choose, and know that they are free of banned substances. For high school and college athletes, EAS.com is good.
RBR, #6: You have always been about long term development. Do you think young athletes, well some of them, look for instant improvement?
Tyson Gay: Yes, sir. I am 29 years old, I am in preparation for London 2012, and I have to look for ways to improve. I have to take my age into consideration.
I have to take everything into consideration. After practice, it used to be a hamburger, or honeybun. Now, I am taking a protein bar. I am also using EAS Creatine products for recovery and endurance.
RBR, #7: Thanks Tyson for the time, good luck with all of your interviews.
Tyson Gay: No problem, Larry. Thanks.
Abbott’s EAS Sports Nutrition brand has announced a partnership with American Track and Field sprinter and London Olympic Games medal contender Tyson Gay. As the newest member of Team EAS, Gay will participate in various EAS marketing initiatives in support EAS’s new 100% Certified program, through which all EAS sports nutrition products will be banned substance tested by industry-leading independent, third-party laboratories and marked with a “tested and true” logo. Gay, a three-time World Champion, has distinguished himself as a strong supporter of anti-doping initiatives through his work with the US Anti-Doping Agency’s “Project Believe” program.
On the track, Gay, 29, has achieved international acclaim, establishing himself as the second fastest athlete in the 100-meters and the third fastest athlete in the history of the 200 m, with times of 9.69 (an American record) and 19.58 seconds, respectively. In 2007, Gay won gold medals in the 100, 200 and 4 X 100-meter relays at the Osaka World Championships, setting a new World Championship record in the 200 m and becoming only the second sprinter in history to win all three events at the same World Championships. Gay plans to enter and compete in several pre-Olympic meets in the spring of 2012, including the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
