Janet Cherobon-Bawcom had two very busy days in Boston. On Sunday, October 9, 2011, Janet won the 2011 BAA Boston Half Marathon, running a swift 1:11:58. She came back the next day and won the USA 10k Champs, held at the Tufts 10k, in 32:47. Now, one of those performances would have made most young elite women’s day, week or month!
Janet Cherobon-Bawcom (1:11:58 at yesterday’s 11th
Annual B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the
Jimmy Fund), of Rome, Georgia, returned today on the Columbus Day holiday to
win the USATF National 10K championship at the Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women

It was an unprecedented day of back-to-back performances, as
both races have been held on Sunday/Monday since the B.A.A. Half Marathon’s inception in 2001. The Tufts
Health Plan 10K for Women had its 35th running today (10-10-11).Both
races are held in Boston
on back-to-back days. Both events are considered among the top US
national road races.
Cherobon-Bawcom has been one of the top US racers on the roads this year, winning
numerous US
championships. (She was second at the B.A.A. Half Marathon
in 2010.)
