LALOVA 10.96 AT 100 M
SLIVEN (BUL, Jul
2): Superb 100 m sprint 10.96 (+0.8) by Ivet Lalova of Bulgaria
highlighted the first day of the 64th Balkan Athletics Championships.
She is  first European sprinter to go under 11 since 2005, last time
by French Christine Arron 10.93. Lalova also helped the Bulgarian team
to win the 4×100 m in 44.49. Another top mark came from European hurdles
medalist Vania Stambolova of Bulgaria, winning the 400 m hurdles in
54.23. Solid triple jump where Adriana Banova of Bulgaria got the Daegu
standard 14.34 ahead of Romanian Cristina Bujin 14.13. Serbian win for
Dragana Tomasevic in discus 61.95. In men events home Krasimir Braykov
improved to 46.09 to win the 400 m and Serbian Emir Bekric improved to
50.08 at 400 m hurdles to show his ambitions before European U23
Championships in Ostrava. Sprint win for Romania as Catalin Cimpeanu
clocked 10.43. Asmir Kolasinac of Serbia was the best in shot put
(19.93) and Yeorgios Tsakonas of Greece in long jump (786). Home win for
Viktor Ninov (225) in high jump. Two wins for Turkey, Halan Duvar in
steeple with 8:37.21 PB and 4×100 m men´s team with national record
39.81.

FAST 400 M RACES
CORK
(IRL, Jul 2): Briton Shana Cox clocked 51.43 at 400 m to win at the
60th Cork City Sports meet ahead of US Natasha Hastings 52.06. Men´s 400
m winner Tabarie Henry of US Virgin Islands got 45.73 ahead of world
medalist Renny Quow of Trinidad (46.33). Olympic medalist Nick Willis of
New Zealand won the 1500 m in 3:40.00. Panamian world medalist Alonso
Edward clocked 20.89 (-2.7) in the 200 m. In jumps Trevor Barry of
Bahamas and Darvin Edwards of St. Lucia cleared 225 and Lithuanian
Povilas Mykolaitis 791 (+1.7) in the long jump. In women events US
Tianna Madison sprinted the 100 m in 11.60 (-1.1) and Nina Kolaric of
Slovenia leaped to windy 652 (+2.5, legal 641). Solid 1500 m winner was
Hannah England 4:10.70. As usual top walks, men´s 3000 m winner was
former European Champion Francisco Fernandez of Spain in 11:14.63 and
women winner Ireland´s world medalist Olive Loughnane 12:52.85.

WINS FOR TAMGHO AND JETER

(FRA, Jul 2): Next Pro Athle Tour meeting saw world leader Teddy Tamgho
winning the triple jump with 16.83 (+1.2). Only one cm behind was
Australian Henry Frayne 16.82 (-0.7). Another world leader competing US
sprinter Carmelita Jeter won the 200 m in 22.64 (+0.1). Alexandria
Anderson clocked good 11.15 (+1.0) in the 100 m and Briton Tiffany
Ofili-Porter 12.89 (-1.2) at 100 m hurdles (over Virginia Crawford
12.91). Russian Yelena Kofanova was the best in the 800 m (2:01.15) and
Ukrainian Oksana Okuneva in high jump (189). Sub 10 sprinter Keston
Bledman of Trinidad won his event with 10.25 (-1.0) ahead of Jamaican
Kimmari Roach 10.34. Cuban hurdler Omar Cisneros was the best in the
flat 400 m 45.77. US Ty Akins won the hurdles in 13.35 (-0.4) beating
Jamaican record holder Dwight Thomas 13.42. Ethiopian wins for Aman Wote
Fere in the 1500 m 3:35.61 (life time best) and Abayneh Ayeleh 7:49.25
in the 3000 m. In technical events Mateusz Didenkow of Poland won the
pole vault (563), Australian Robbie Crowther 809 (+1.5) the long jump
(beating Kafetien Gomis 803w and Fabrice Lapierre 802). Pavel Krivitskiy
of Belarus was the best in hammer (77.02).

CADEE 65.21 WITH DISCUS
UDEN
(NED, Jul 2): Mondo Keien Meeting saw German Katharina Molitor winning
the javelin with 62.59 ahead of European champion Linda Stahl 59.66 but
the best result award in women events went to Jamaican Davita
Prendergast at 400 m 51.99. Swedish star Carolina Kluft won the long
jump (644, -0.8) and US Molly Beckwith clocked good 2:00.66 in the 800
m. Netherlands achieved fast 43.91 in the 4×100 m over Belgium 44.26.
Briton Aniyka Onuora impressive 23.17 at 200 m against -1.4 wind. Best
male result was the 65.21 discus by Erik Cadee. In running events Elroy
Gelant of South Africa got 13:25.09 in the 5000 m and Australian Craig
Mottram 3:37.53 in the 1500 m. Here third Austrian Andreas Vojta
improved to 3:37.82. Sprint wins for Patrick Van Luijck 10.35 (+0.5),
Briton Christian Malcolm 20.82 (-1.0) and US Jordan Boase at 400 m
(46.50). Fred Townsend got 13.64 (+0.1) at 110 m hurdles and European
silver medalist in decathlon Eelco Sintnicolaas won a special four
events with 10.97, 727, 13.68 and 2:00.37 in the 800 m.

REIF 838 AND KAPPLER 690, BOTH WINDY

LANGENSALZA (GER, Jul 2): Strong wind ruled at the 18th special long
jump meeting here. European champion Christian Reif won with 838 (+2.2,
but also excellent legal 820 +1.7). Briton Chris Tomlinson had windy 820
(+2.3, legal best 787) for second. Third world leader Mitchell Watt of
Australia 820 (+3.0, only one valid jump) and fourth Ignisious Gaisah of
Ghana (819, +3.7, legal 780). Last over 8 meters was Danish record
holder Morten Jensen with legal 801 (+1.2). Sixth Spanish Luis Felipe
Melize 793 (+3.5 and legal 791) and seventh European indoor champion
Sebastian Bayer 791 (+2.1). Bianca Kappler won the women competition
with 690 (+5.0, legal 644) ahead of former world indoor champion Naide
Gomes of Portugal (678, +2.7, legal 668) and olympic winner Maureen
Maggi of Brazil 675 (+3.0, legal 644). More luck for fourth Teresa
Dobija of Poland with legal 664 (+1.9).

STRUTZ AND BLEASDALE 470 IN POLE VAULT
MANNHEIM
(GER, Jul 2): The traditional Junior Gala Meet (U23 and U19 categories)
saw superb women pole vault competition won by Martina Strutz with 470
who tried at new WL 478. Second Briton Holly Bleasdale improved the
British national record to excellent 470 and her mark is the best for 19
years of age ever. But she will be 20 on November 2 that means no world
junior record. Briton Jodie Williams sprinted to 11.48 (+0.3) at 100 m
in the junior category and German junior 4×100 m team was timed with
fast 44.59. In the U23 men events German Gregor Traber clocked 13.56 (he
is still junior) over Briton Lawrence Clarke 13.59. In junior events
French Jimmy Vicaut confirmed his position in Europe with 10.25 (+0.5)
100 m win and even faster 10.21 (+0.3) in heats. Hungarian sub 46 runner
Marcell Deak Nagy won the 400 m in 46.63. In the junior 110 m hurdles
Briton Andrew Pozzi clocked 13.44 (+0.3), junior shot put winner Tom
Walsh of New Zealand achieved 20.56 (6 kg), in junior discus German
Benedikt Stienen 63.52 (1.75 kg) and junior hammer French Quentin Bigot
77.73 (6 kg).

GOOD DISCUS, WINDY SPRINTS
BRNO
(CZE, Jul 2): First day of Czech Championships held for first time in
Brno saw Vera Cechlova improving her season best in discus with 63.74,
it was also her 9th national title. Also good Jan Marcell in men´s
discus 65.71. Jaroslav Baba cleared 225 and Jirina Ptacnikova 420 in
windy conditions. Roman Novotny leaped to 785 (+1.7) in long jump. Olymp
Praha broke the national club record in women 4×100 m with 44.61. Other
sprints finals were supported by too strong winds. Last year junior
Pavel Maslak sprinted the 100 m to 10.22 (+3.7, but improved his PB to
10.43 +1.4 in heats) ahead of Lukas Milo 10.32 and national record
holder Jan Veleba 10.35. Katerina Cechova could not celebrate personal
best, her 11.35 was aided by +3.3. Iveta Mazacova clocked 11.47 and
Denisa Rosolova (runs the 200 m on Sunday) 11.49. U23 athlete Martin
Mazac won the high hurdles in 13.62 (+2.9), record holder Petr Svoboda
is still injured and Lucie Skrobakova clocked 13.10 (+3.0) to win the
women hurdles. Here second place for 400 m hurdles specialist Zuzana
Hejnova 13.27 (she is not running her event at the championships).

EUROPEAN CUP CE

TORUN
(POL, Jul 2): Estonian men are leading in the Super League decathlon
with 11 958 over France 11 786 and Belarus 11 745. Individual overnight
leader Anders Raja of Estonia 4255 points. In women heptathlon leads as
expected Russia 10 578, Ukraine is close second 10 510 and third France
10 175. Russian Anna Bogdanova leads with 3732 after first day.

BRESSANONE
(ITA, Jul 2): Great Britain leads decathlon with 12 076 after first day
(more than Super League) in the First League and Swiss Simon Walter
individually 4149 points. In women heptathlon leading position after
Saturday for Belarus 10 205 and Poland´s Karolina Tyminska has the best
score 3728 points.

RIBEIRA BRAVA
(POR, Jul 2): Lithuanian European indoor medalist this year Austra
Skujyte scored the best first day total from all leagues in the lowest
Second League 3821 points (also 187 high jump and 16.81 shot put). Team
leader is Spain with 9717 points. Latvian Edgars Erins leads the
decathlon with 3843 and in the team competition Hungary (10 865).

MESTO NAD VAHOM (SVK, Jul 2): European hammer champion Libor
Charfreitag got his 13th national title in hammer with 75.36. NCAA
medalist Marcel Lomnicky was second 72.19. Lucia Klocova won tactical
1500 m in 4:30.95 and Dana Veldakova jumping only to win achieved 13.59.
Women hammer world medalist Martina Hrasnova got her title with 63.53 m
during first day of Slovak Championships.

CHAMPAIGN
(USA, Jul 2): Fresh US champion, Derek Miles cleared 570 on his first
attempt to win the Gill Athletics Factory Vault. Three men (Jeremy
Scott, Jordon Scott, Mark Hollis) tied for second place by also clearing
5.70. Miles won without missing. Becky Holliday was the women’s winner
at 462, a personal best.

OORDEGEM (BEL,
Jul 2): Former 400mH olympic medalist Naman Keita of France won at the
20th Leon Buyle Meet the flat 400 m in 46.54. US sprinter Deun White
clocked 20.95 (-0.2) at 200 m and Briton Joe Thomas clocked 1:46.96 at
the 800 m.

NEMBRO (ITA,
Jul 1): Jacques Riparelli sprinted to 10.33 (-1.0) at 15th Meeting Citta
di Nembro and was even faster in heats 10.26 (+0.1). Emanuele Abate
clocked 13.69 (-0.5) at 110 m hurdles and Ukrainian junior Dariya
Derkach leaped to 655 (+1.6) in long jump.

ROTTACH-EGERN
(GER, Jul 2): Greek record holder Kostadinos Filippidis won the special
pole vault meet with 560 clearance in first attempt (tried then at 572).
Second Alexander Straub returned after injury also 560 and third
Karsten Dilla 560. Raphael Holzdeppe and Cuban Lazaro Borges followed
with 550 both. The meet was held at a mobile jumping area directly at
the Tegern Sea. Spectators followed the competition from nearby boat.

Jul 2): South African last year World junior champion Luvo Manyonga
improved at jumping carnival his PB to 826 (+0.9).

KAUSTINEN (FIN, Jul 2): Finnish hammer thrower David Soderberg achieved here his second best career mark 77.34.

(ESP, Jul 2): Eusebio Caceres scored a nice double during first day of
Spanish U23 Championships. 10.43 (-0.4) at 100 m and 780 (+0.7) in long
jump.

Jul 2): Fast sprints at Honved Meet. Daniel Karlik 10.42 (+1.2) and
junior Anasztazia Ngyuen 11.59 (+1.2) at 100 m.

Jul 2): Good long jumping during first day of Polish U23 Championships.
Ana Jagaciak 654 and Lukasz Podgorski 785. Grzegorz Zimniewicz won the
100 m in 10.42 (+0.6).
