The adidas Grand Prix NYC will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island. If you live within driving distance, borrow your parents car, fill your Iphone with tunes (My suggestions for driving music : Allman Brothers, Eat A Peach, Lou Reed Live, Jim Carroll, Catholic Boy and Genesis, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and anything by Sage Francis and G. Love & His Special Sauce).

It will be the sixth meet on the 2011 Samsung Diamond League Series, and it will be spectacular. With great meets last weekend on the left coast-Nike Pre Classic, and the week before in Rome (Compeed Golden Gala), plus, for me, FBK Hengelo, track season 2011 is on fire!

Final roster is set for adidas HS Dream Mile, 100

Deep fields feature 27 athletes ranked top 3 in nation,
including 11 at #1

NEW YORK CITY (June 7, 2011) – Three athletes ranked #1 in
the nation are among the top high school athletes added to the fields for the
High School Dream Mile and Dream 100 at the adidas Grand Prix this Saturday, meet organizers and adidas
announced today, bringing the total number of top-ranked athletes in the deep
fields to 11 and setting the stage for what promise to be some of the fastest
and most competitive races in the nation this season.

Billy
Orman (Tuba City, AZ), #1 in the 3200 meters (8:48.63) and Austin Mudd (Greenwood, IN), #1 in the
800 meters (1:49.25) are among the athletes who have joined the adidas Boys’ Dream
Mile. Orman is a six-time Arizona State Champion who holds the state record for
1600 meters and 3200 meters, who is headed to Harvard University, while Mudd is
a four-time Indiana State Champion who will attend the University of Wisconsin.
With the addition of Orman and Mudd, the boys’ mile features the top-ranked
U.S. athletes in the 800, 1500 and 1600 meters, the mile, the 3200 meters, the
2-mile and the 5K.

Also ranked #1 in the nation, with a time of 53.15 in the
400 meters, is Olivia Ekpone
(Germantown, MD). Ekpone last month won four state titles in the 100, 200 and
400 meters, and as anchor on the winning 4×100-meter relay. She will attend
Texas A&M, and is set for the adidas Girls’ Dream 100 here.

In its seventh year as one of the premier track-and-field
events in the world, the adidas Grand
Prix, at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, is the sixth stop on the
international Samsung Diamond League circuit. Dozens of Olympic and World
Champions – including Blanka VlaÅ¡ić,
Tyson Gay, Jeremy Wariner, Jessica Ennis, Allyson Felix and Bershawn “Batman”
Jackson – are among the superstars announced to date, along with “Blade Runner” Oscar
Pistorius, the 400-meter Paralympic gold medalist hoping to compete in the
2012 Olympic Games. Tickets are available at the event website, www.adidasgrandprix.com,

Among the other top athletes who have accepted invitations
to compete are Robin Reynolds
(Miami, FL), the 2010 World Youth Olympics Champion at 400 meters, and Myasia Jacobs (Paramus, NJ), the 2010
AAU National Champion in the 100 meters and two-time New Jersey State Champion
at 100 and 200 meters, in the Girls’ Dream 100. Molly McNamara (Red Bank, NJ), who is #5 all-time in New Jersey at
1600 meters, will compete in the Girls’ Dream Mile.

Fields for the High School Dream Mile and Dream 100 were drawn
from the winners of three qualifying meets in the adidas Golden Stripes series, as long as the winners met qualifying
standards, as well as from at-large bids. The first meet, the adidas Meet of Champions,
was held on March 26; the second, the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., was April 20-23; and the
third the Golden South Classic in Orlando, Fla., was on May 27-28. In addition
to the opportunity to compete in a world-class international track event,
athletes in the Dream Mile and Dream 100 will also have the chance to receive
coaching from mile legend Jim Ryun
and Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene.
