I do believe that we have to draw a line in the sand where drugs in our sport are truly discouraged. I do think the Euro meetings agreement makes sense.
Only one or two RBR updates Tuesday and Wednesday, as I have eye surgery on Tuesday and will be out for about 48 hours!

GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2010
BEOGRAD
(SRB): Top European one day meetings want to continue in their tough stance
against doping athletes who are returning from a ban. At yearly General
Assembly (Friday October 15) during European Athletics Convention in Serbia the
representatives of majority of the members agreed to continue with the
recommendation not to invite athletes coming from two years (or more) doping
ban or are in other means bringing athletics into disreputation. The meetings
also evaluated first year of Samsung Diamond League, IAAF World Challenge
series and new regulations for European Athletics one day meetings. In the
elections the current board headed by Stockholm´s DN Galan meet director Rajne
Soderberg was re-elected. The only new member is Terry McHugh former Ireland´s
national team javelin thrower who is representing Luzern EA Classic meeting in Switzerland. He
replaced French Gerard Fremaux. Other board members remained, Wilfried Meert as
vice-president, Jacky Delapierre as general secretary, Fedde Zwanenburg as
treasurer and Jean-Pierre Schoebel, Ian Stewart and Alfons Juck as members.
Spring Meeting of the organisation will be held on April 15 in London on the eve of EA Congress and London

FRESH
CHAMPIONS NOT THINKING ABOUT THE MARATHON NOW
NANNING
(CHN): Interesting plans in the background of the fresh World Half Marathon
champions from Kenya.
As IAAF writes Wilson Kiprop was a man who had to borrow money for bus fare
just so he could get himself to races in Kenya. That perseverance paid off
for him, whose rise in the ranks this year included the national and African
10,000m titles on home turf in the high altitude of Nairobi. He’s already run a marathon,
finishing fifth in 2:09:09 in Prague in May, but he’s not yet ready to turn his
full attentions to the longer distance. “I’m not ready for another marathon
this year. But I am looking to run well and the World Cross Country
Championships,” said Kiprop. The same goes for women winner Florence Kiplagat.
Although she’s the national record holder in the 10,000m on the track at 30:11.59
from 2009, she said she still has plenty to achieve on the track before looking
further. “I didn’t have a good season on the track this year,” Kiplagat said.
“So I have to achieve more there before thinking about the marathon. I have
already won a medal at Cross Country and I have to look for a medal before I
leave the track. That is my goal for next year (Daegu) and at the next
Olympics.”

MADRID (ESP): One of the top Spanish middle
distance runners Alvaro Rodriguez is planning a solid indoor schedule. The 2007
European U23 champion at 1500
m wants to qualify for European Indoor Championships in Paris and there attack
the podium. “I want to think about medals, but first I must qualify,” Rodriguez
was quoted. He has 3:35.76 from 2009 as best time and was unable to qualify for
Barcelona 2010.
PRAGUE

DETROIT (USA): Kenyan former
NCAA Champion at 10 000 m
Boaz Cheboiywo signed up only two days before the Sunday´s Detroit Marathon
hoping to take a shot at the course record, after he fell 12 miles into the Chicago
Marathon and did not finish. Cheboiywo, 32, of Ypsilanti began cramping up 10 miles into the Free
Press Marathon. He had hoped to reach the halfway mark in 66 minutes, but was
two minutes behind that pace. Cheboiywo had such a big deal that he stopped at
Mile 16 and got into a pace vehicle with the intention of quitting. The car was
stopped for a couple minutes with no sign of any other marathon runners behind.
Cheboiywo has only one finished marathon so far, 2:21:40 in New York 2008.
Winning Jordan Desilets got 2:28:30. Local media are writing.
KIENBAUM (GER): German
Athletics Federation DLV is starting this weekend new education course for
coaches for the B-licence. Interestingly some of the top athletes are taking
part. For example long jump European Champion Christian Reif, former discus

Charles Friedek. From the still active athletes also shot putter Nadine
Kleinert, middle-distance runner Janina Goldfuss and javelin thrower Mark Frank
are among the participants.

the collaboration of his compatriot and 2008 Olympic Games discus champion Gerd

helped several Jamaican institutions and individuals in their development, have
continued their support to Jamaica’s
track & field, now taking on the Mico
University College
track and field team. On Friday, the school received training and competition

PORTLAND
(USA): Chinese Sports
manufacturer Li Ning is one of the more recent and interesting entries into Portland’s growing circle
of footwear companies. In the world’s most populous nation, home-grown Li-Ning
has seen sales in recent years pass every competitor except for Oregon-based
Nike. But when it comes to United
States consumers, Li-Ning is almost a total
unknown. Its launch this week into the running-shoe market, an important
strategic step for a company trying to gain a foothold here. The company’s
North American headquarters sports a payroll of 28 people in its Pearl District
offices. That’s a far cry from the almost 7,000 at Nike’s sprawling campus near
Beaverton.
Writes oregon-live.com. In athletics top faces of Li Ning are Yelena
Isinbayeva, Andreas Thorkildsen and Asafa Powell.
AMSTERDAM
(NED): Respected agent and athletes liaison at many events on the track and on

marathon is currently number 8, leaders are London,
Chicago and Berlin. In separate men marathon rankings Amsterdam is even better
seventh, in separate women order the Dutch race is number 10.

was confirmed by his daughter K. C. Fuchs, who said he had had numerous
illnesses. Track and Field News ranked Mr. Fuchs as number one in the 1949 and
