TOP RESULTS
KINGSTON (JAM, Jun 26): During first day of Jamaican Championships
olympic medalist Sherone Simpson ran a season best 11.12 (+1.1) to win
the women’s 100m. Second Carrie Russell ran a personal best 11.18. Samantha Henry was third in 11.29 and Trisha-Ann Hawthrone
fourth in 11.31. In the 400m hurdles, Nickeisha Wilson and Leford Green
were the winnrs. Wilson ran 57.09 while Green took the men’s event in
48.90 to beat Roxroy Cato 49.45 and Adrian Findlay 49.66. Jovanne
Jarrett took the women’s long jump with a leap of 644. Dorian Scott
with a 20.55 throw took the men’s shot put. Kemmari Roach and Michael
Frater, both in 10.13secs, lead the men’s 100m sprinters into Sunday’s
final. Lerone Clarke took the other semifinal in 10.18. Wilbert Walker
achieved 16.76 (+1.1) to win the triple jump. In 400 m heats Novlene
Williams-Mills posted 50.71 and Shericka Williams 50.95 in the other
race. Fastest in men´s 400 m heats was Ricardo Chambers in 45.75
PORT OF SPAIN (TRI, Jun 26): World leader Kelly Baptiste won the
national title at Hasely Crawford Stadium in fast 10.98 (+1.7). In
second place was Semoy Hackett (11.27) and Ayanna Hutchinson (11.37)
third, in a repeat of last year’s placing. Richard Thompson won the
men’s 100m in 10.01 (+1.7). Running in lane one, the double Olympic
silver medallist, won ahead Keston Bledman (10.03) and Emmanuel
Callender (10.14). Marc Burns was fourth in 10.25. Michelle Lee Ahye
won the girls Under-20 title in 11.31 (+1.1) while Moriba Morain took
the junior boys race in 10.33 (+1.7) beating Sabian Cox (10.33).
Cleopatra Borel Brown captured the women’s shot put with a throw of
18.04 metres. Zewde Hewitt won the 400 m in 46.26 as Renny Quow was a non-starter.
NASSAU (BAH, Jun 26): Demetrius Pinder won the 400 m Bahamian title in
45.21 ahead of Andretti Bain (45.44), world indoor champion Chris Brown
(45.78) and Nathaniel McKinney (45.82). Jamial Rolle was the best in
the 200 m in 21.03 (+1.1). Nivea Smith clocked impressive 22.71 to win
women´s 200 m over Christine Amertil 23.00. Triple jump record holder Leevan Sands won his event with 16.78 (+0.6).
DES MOINES (USA, Jun 26): Errol Nolan won the US Junior 400 m crown in
good 45.68 ahead of Joshua Mance 46.20. In expected 800 m duel Casimir
Loxsom beat Robby Andrews (1:47.45-1:47.75).
SOFIA (BUL, Jun 26): Additions to Pavel Pavlov EA Classi meet is the
triple jump of Romanian record holder Marian Oprea who achieved 17.31
(+2.6) and legal 16.96 (+0.5). Saudi Arabian shot put record holder
Sultan Al-Hebshi achieved 20.29 to win. Solid also 2:02.01 by Romanian
Liliana Barbulescu in the 800 m.
NOTWIL (SUI, Jun 26): Botswana´s Onalenna Bahio clocked at Swiss meet here 1:46.32 at 800 m.
NAIROBI (KEN, Jun 24-26): Adding 1500 m times for Asbel Kiprop
excellent 3:33.69 bearing in mind the altitude ahead of Silas Kiplagat
3:34.28, Nicholas Kemboi 3:37.22 and Vickson Polonet 3:38.14. Vincent
Yator won the 5000 m in 13:35.01 ahead of Edwin Soi 13:35.09. But the
most impressive concerning the altitude was the 10 000 m with fastest
time ever here by Wilson Kiprop 27:26.93 ahead of Geoffrey Mutai
27:27.59, Matthew Kisorio 27:28.13, Titus Mbishei 27:29.13 and Jacob
Cheshari as top five 27:32.43. One would hope all was correct in this
race concerning the number of laps. Paul Kipsiele Koech again did not
succeed at trials with not beeing in top five. Olympic winner Nancy
Lagat won the 1500 m in 4:10.11 over Ann Karindi 4:12.18 and Irene
Jelagat 4:12.72. Final time of Vivian Cheruiyot was 15:31.39 while
winning the 5000 m. Milka Chemos was the best in steeple 9:34.28.
OLOMOUC (CZE, Jun 26): First ever sub one hour half-marathon in Czech
Republic was registered at inaugural Olomouc Half-marathon. Kenyan
Stephen Kibet clocked 59:58 to beat Stephen Tum 1:00:17 and Joseph
Maregu 1:03:19. In women race Ethiopian Asnakech Mengistu won in
1:13:12 ahead of Lucy Kimani of Bosna and Hercegovina 1:16:08. Best
Czech Petra Kaminkova was fourth in 1:22:11. Nearly 1000 runners
participated.
BUDAPEST (HUN, Jun 26): Good discus at 26th Honved Kupa meet as Zoltan
Kovago achieved 66.44 m. Second Mohammed Samimi of Iran got 64.30 and
third Roland Varga representing Croatia 62.11.
VILLEFRANCHE (FRA, Jun 26): National 10 000 m champions are Driss El Himer 28:54.16 and Christelle Bardelle 34:10.68.

KINGSTON (JAM): Jamaica’s 100 m junior record holder, Yohan Blake, will
continue his season at the Alma Athlé Tour Meeting in Reims, France on
June 30. Informs TrackAlerts.com. His season best is 10.06 and he did
not run yet this summer in Europe. His main rival in Reims will be
Antiguan record holder Daniel Bailey. The big clash of 100 m Bolt vs.
Powell in Paris on July 16 will be also with Blake and Bailey.
BIRMINGHAM (GBR): Mark Butler is noting that the the award for the best
performance of the day on Saturday at the British Championships should
go to 1500m winner Hannah England. Her final time was only 4:33.23, but
the field passed 800m in 2:40.93. Bell time was 3:36.46, which meant
the last 400m was covered in 56.77.
