Molly Huddle took the US 10k title today, in Boston, MA, at the Tufts 10k in 32:06.5, for the second year in a row. Rebecca Donahue was third and Sara Hall was fourth…this was Huddle’s second title!

RESULTS
BOSTON (USA, Oct 11): Under sunny skies and a crisp start time temperature of 41 degrees, a record field of runners competed in the 9th Annual B.A.A Half Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. A crowd of 4025 runners started the 13.1 mile loop course within the City of Boston and Town of Brookline‘s famed Emerald Necklace park system. Many new faces led the way in one of the most popular events of the fall racing season, but Ireland‘s Martin Fagan (1:02:21) and Ethiopia‘s Belainesh Gebre (1:11:07) emerged through the Emerald Necklace route as the day‘s victors.
Fagan‘s time of 1:02:21 was just one second off the course record of 1:20.20 (Tom Nyariki, KEN, 2007). Second Kenyan Philemon Terer achieved 1:02:24. In women results second also Kenyan Jellilah Tingea (1:11:43) and third Poland´s Karolina Jarzynska (1:11:50).
BOSTON (USA, Oct 12): Molly Huddle won for second year in a row the Tufts Health Plan 10 km and took also the US title at the distance with 32:06.5. Second Kenyan Genoveva Jelagat achieved 32:12.0 ahead of Rebecca Donaghue (32:28.2) and Sara Hall (32:43.9). Writes Race Results Weekly.
AVILA (ESP, Oct 11): European Athlete of the Year Marta Dominguez finished second at road mile, the 16th edition in Avila. Winner Adrianne Herzog of Netherlands clocked 5:04, Dominguez 5:10. Portugal´s European Indoor champion Rui Silva was the best man in 4:31 ahead of Alberto Galindo (4:32).
JAEN (ESP, Oct 12): The day after her loss Marta Dominguez won the 22nd Manuel Pancorbo road mile in Jaen in 5:22. Juan Jose Troya won the men race in 4:20.
VICTORIA (CAN, Oct 11): Kenyan Hillary Cheruiyot won the 30th Royal Victoria Marathon with 2:19:26. Female winner was Canadian Cheryl Murphy achieving solid 2:44:01 for a 40+ runner. Writes Race Results Weekly.
TRENTO (ITA, Oct 11): Kenyan Edwin Soi won the 63rd Giro al Sas di Trento with 29:25 at 10 km. His country-man Mark Bett was second (29:28) and Ugandan Wilson Busienei third (29:29). Multiple European CC Champion Sergiy Lebid was fourth (29:36), best Italian Andrea Lalli sixth (29:42) and 2004 Olympic marathon winner Stefano Baldini 10th (30:06).
RENNES (FRA, Oct 11): Kenyan Silas Kipruto won the 10,38 km of Rennes in 28:59, women winner at 6.7 km was Utura Gedo of Ethiopia (20:52) ahead of Ines Chenonge of Kenya (20:59).
KOBE (JPN, Oct 10): At Kobe Women‘s Distance Meet 25-years old Mai Ito improved at 10 000 m to 32:27.04 and Ai Igarashi to 15:34.60 at 5000 m.
MAEBASHI (JPN, Oct 11): 23-years old Keisuke Ushiro improved in decathlon at Gunma Relays to solid 7856 points. It is second best Asian mark of the year 2009. Better is only Kazakh Dmitriy Karpov with 8029 points.
CORUNA (ESP, Oct 11): At Coruna 10 km road race fast 28:09 by Kenyan Peter Kirui ahead of Cosmers Kemboi (28:24). Gladys Cherono posted also quick 31:40 in women category ahead of Portugal´s Dulce Felix (33:01).
CANTALEJO (ESP, Oct 11): Eric Kibet achieved 1:02:22 to win the 6th Half Marathon here. Ethiopian Berkinesh Shiferaw as fastest woman clocked 1:12:40.
NOVI SAD (SRB, Oct 11): Chinese Wang Haina won the 17th Novi Sad Marathon in 2:58:31.

HEILBRONN (GER): German shot putter Christina Schwanitz (Berlin finalist) ended her cooperation with coach Hans-Peter Ogiolda because of personal problems. She is now trying to find a new coach.
DRESDEN (GER): World high jump medalist Raul Spank set his goals for next year. He wants to improve his best to 236 and win medals at World Indoor Championships in Doha and European Championships in Barcelona.
CHICAGO (USA): The 32nd running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon witnessed 34,792 participants at the start and 33,419 official finishers, a men’s course record, a new female champion, a three-time wheelchair champion and a sprint finish in the women’s wheelchair competition. Organisers are saying in a release.
LAUSANNE (SUI): ThórdÃs Lilja GÃsladóttir of Iceland will be presented with the first-ever European Athletics Women‘s Leadership Award in Budapest, Hungary, on 17 October. GÃsladóttir, an Assistant Professor at Reykjavik University who is also a club coach, was selected by an international jury to represent 24 national winners at a ceremony during the European Athletics Awards Night, presented by Mondo. She will receive her award from European Athletics President Hansjörg Wirz on behalf of all the other laureates, who in turn will be given their awards at national ceremonies. GÃsladóttir, 48, has long been known as one of the leading lights in Icelandic athletics and her career has featured many roles at the local, national and international levels. She has been a top high jumper, a coach, a special programme leader, a teacher at all levels from nursery school to university, a researcher in sport related issues and a member of various committees within the sports movement.
KIYIV (UKR): World Indoor 1500 m Champion 2006 Ivan Heshko underwent a surgery on his injured leg. Although he left the hospital on the same day it is not immediately known when he would be able to return to training again. The 30-years old runner last time competed in 2008.
MOSCOW (RUS): Olympic silver medalist in pole vault Yevgeniy Lukyanenko is still undergoing a healing process after his surgery which removed his lymph nodes. Because of this he did not compete during the summer season 2009. About his possible return no details are announced yet. “I m concentrating only on my own health,†said Lukyanenko for All-Sport.
MOSCOW (RUS): Latest running marriage. Russian champion Aleksandr Orlov married the World participant in the 3000 m steeple Yelena Sidorchenkova. Writes Sergey Tikhonov.
MOSCOW (RUS): All-Sport informs that European indoor champion in pentathlon from Torino Russian Anna Bogdanova will pass next season because she is expecting a baby. She also missed the summer season 2009 but that was due to her own decision to save energy after some years of the career. She married in September 2009 and expects the child in January/February time, she also knows it will be a daughter. Bogdanova (24) hopes to return afterwards to competitions.
KINGSTON (JAM): The controversy surrounding the six MVP Track Club athletes who missed the Jamaica team’s mandatory training camp in Nurnberg, Germany ahead of the start of the championships in Berlin (Asafa Powell and co.) could soon reach the disciplinary committee. Informs TrackAlerts.com.

BIRMINGHAM (GBR): While on their way to the pre-race press conference on Saturday afternoon, Mary Keitany, Dathan Ritzenhein and Sammy Kitwara, along with six others, were stuck in an elevator for nearly an hour. A rescue team was needed to finally free them. None made it to the official IAAF press conference. Informs Race Results Weekly.
