Walter Dix ran 10.00 for 100 meters recently. Now, due to arbitration, Walter Dix, the bronze medalist at 100 and 200 meters from Beijing, is sitting on the bench, so to speak. He is not allowed to compete for appearance or prize money until the arbitration is heard. On April 21, he will meet with USATF CEO Doug Logan. Logan has offered to try and mediate the dispute between Dix and ICON Management.

ATHENS (GRE): Agencies are reporting that the doping ban of 2004 walking Olympic winner Athanasia Tsoumeleka was confirmed. Traces of CERA, the new version of EPO doping were found in her sample from January this year. She still denies any knowledge of this but again confirmed end of her career.
MOSCOW (RUS): All-Sport informs about two doping cases from Russian Indoor Championships in February. Within doping control by national body positive for EPO were the 1500 m winner Vladimir Ezhov from Chelyabinsk (3:44.66) and female runner Yelena Kanales who ended seventh in the same event (4:13.39). New champion will be the initially second placed Vyacheslav Sokolov.
TALLAHASSEE (USA): As South Florida Sun-Sentinel informs, the fastest man in America Walter Dix may be in jeopardy of not running in several major meets this season. He is in arbitration to get out of a six-month trial contract with agent Kimberly Holland of Atlanta-based ICON Management. Until the arbitration is settled, Dix who won bronze medals in the 100 and 200 last summer at the Olympic Games will not be allowed to run in any major meets or accept appearance fees. Dix is scheduled to travel to Indianapolis for an April 21 meeting with USA Track and Field‘s Doug Logan. The sport‘s new CEO will try to mediate the dispute for Dix who started the season with a world leading 10.00 against a head-wind. The arbitration is still working its way through the process that may last through July and seriously hamper Dix‘s U.S. and European meet schedule. The only other meet Dix is already under contract to compete in is the Penn Relays.
