It has taken Wayde just about three years to get at the rarified shape that puts one in world record shape.

PRETORIA (RSA, Apr 17): Final day of South African Championships had Wayde Van Niekerk winning the 200 m in 20.38 (+0.1), Justine Palframan topped women in 23.64. Tshepo Tshite clocked good quality 1:45.79 in the 800 m. In the 400 m hurdles titles for Leroux Hamman 49.70 and Wenda Nel 55.60. Zakithi Nene topped the 400 m in 45.54. Rushwahl Samaai leaped to 816 (+1.1) in long jump ahead of Jovan van Vuuren 802 (+1.4). Precious Mashele clocked at an altitude good 13:42.31 in the 5000 m. In the shot put duel Kyle Blignaut with 20.82 beat Jason Van Rooyen 20.60.
