Matt Centrowitz ran 3:57.92 for the mile, Andrew Wheating ran 1:47.03 for 800 meters, Jenny Barringer ran 15:01.70 for 5,000 meters, and Lauren Centrowitz ran 4:37.07. In College Station, Gil Roberts, all of nineteen years, ran 46.17 for 400 meters at teh Texas A & M Invitational. A great weekend in track and field!
And, after a tough crash the other night, Lo Lo Jones dusted herself off and ran a fine 7.82 in Karlsruhe for 60m hurdles.

UKHOV 237 WORLD LEAD
MOSCOW (RUS, Feb 15): Russian Ivan Ukhov confirmed his world lead with another improvement. During final day of Russian Championships he cleared 237 in CSKA Hall and bettered his mark from Arnstadt meet by one cm. He also had a close third try at new russian record height 240. Before all heights including 237 in first attempt. Aleksandr Shustov was second (230) and Aleksey Dmitrik third (227) with the same height for fourth Andrey Tereshin. Anna Alminova clocked second fastest in the world at 1500 m 4:02.32. She qualified so for 1500 m and 3000 m for European Indoor Championships. Second Oksana Zbrozhek who was on Saturday also second at 800 m with 4:03.86 ahead of Yevgeniya Zolotova 4:06.66. Natalya Medvedeva won the 5000 m in 15:39.02. World leader Anastasiya Taranova-Potapova got her first Russian title with 14.27 beating new names Anna Kuropatkina (14.14 in last attempt) and Natalya Kutyakova (14.10). On the men side Vladimir Yezhov was the 1500 m surprise winner (3:44.66) and Aleksandr Orlov got after 3000 m also the 5000 m crown in 14:05.13. Long jump winner Ruslan Gataulin leaped to only average 785 cm. In additions from Saturday the shot put battle won by Pavel Sofyin (19.79) by 20 cm from Anton Lyuboslavskiy (19.59). In women long jump world leader Olga Kucherenko registered 672 ahead of Tatyana Voykina (670) and Ylena Sokolova (669). Reigning European Champion Lyudmila Kolchanova out of shape was 9th (634).
FRIEDRICH BEATS VLASIC BOTH 205, WORLD LEADS ALSO FOR CUSMA AND JONES
KARLSRUHE (GER, Feb 15): The 25th jubilee BW Bank Meeting saw a special highlight at the end in women high jump. German Ariane Friedrich beat on count-back (as at Golden League finale last year) Croatian World champion Blanka Vlasic. Both went over 205, new world lead and meet record, for German also PB and second best in the country behind Heike Henkel´s 207 at that time world record. Vlasic equalled her own national indoor record from 2006. It is the best second place result ever indoors. The Croatian star was behind already at 197 which she did in second attempt, at two metres both cleared in second and at 203 Friedrich in first and Vlasic after first unsuccesfull passed and mastered right 205 as Friedrich. Both then had three tries at 207. Some 4500 spectators saw in total other two world leads and one excellent European leading time. US World indoor champion Lolo Jones came back after Dusseldorf difficulties and won the 60 m Hurdles in world leading 7.82 clearly ahead of Canadian Olympic medalist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep (7.96) and Christina Vukicevic who posted new Norwegian record 8.00. Italian Elisa Cusma won the 800 m and was faster than Russians at their national championships with 1:59.25 national record. World indoor medalist Tetyana Petluyk of Ukraine was second (1:59.63) and Dusseldorf 1500 m winner Sylwia Ejdys of Poland third (2:01.43 PB). French European Champion Mehdi Baala won the 1500 m in high quality national record, European lead and fifth fastest European ever indoors 3:34.71. Kenyan Gideon Gathimba as second (3:38.39) took with him German Wolfram Muller to good 3:38.80 and Sudanese Yahya Osman to national record 3:39.40. In nice revenge Olympic winner Wilfred Bungei beat at 800 m (1:47.02) the silver holder from Beijing Ahmed Ismail (1:47.34). World Indoor Champion Canadian Tyler Christopher won the 300 m in 32.75. US Nina Gilbert was fastest at 400 m (52.66) and Kenyan Edwin Kipkorir got 7:49.83 at 3000 m. Italians prevailed over overseas sprinters in 60 m. Fabio Cerutti clocked 6.58 to beat Emanuele di Gregorio (6.60) with US Mark Jelks third (6.60). Surprise winner of men´s 60 m Hurdles was US Dexter Faulk who achieved PB 7.50 ahead of Gent, Lievin and Dusseldorf winner Bahamian Shamar Sands (7.52 but 7.50 in heats). Olympic silver winner David Payne was third (7.64, and 7.62 in heats). In remaining technical events another German winner in Pole Vault as Alexander Straub cleared 576 in second ahead of Fabian Schulze (570). Americans dominated the triple jump as Jadel Gregorio jumped 17.11 ahead of Cubans David Giralt (17.07) and Alexis Copello (17.03).

US SATURDAY ROUND UP (Feb 14): 400 m world lead for Gil Roberts
SEATTLE: At Husky Invitational the 307 m long oval at Dempsey Facility the highly talented German Fernandez achieved another superb result. The still junior clocked at 3000 m 7:47.97 a time clearly better than US junior indoor record, but due to oversize track it would not be ratified. Second Michael Coe achieved 7:48.05. Matt Centrowitz got 3:57.92 mile and Kenyan Tyson David 13:36.76. High quality times also for Andrew Wheating 1:47.03 at 800 m, Jenny Barringer 15:01.70 at 5000 m, Dutch Susan Kuijken 9:05.70 at 3000 m and Lauren Centrowitz 4:37.07 mile. Jordan Boase achieved 46.15 at 400 m the fastest of the year, but again at track longer than 200 metres. Rubin Williams achieved 20.98 at 200 m and Canadian Sam Effah 6.64 at 60 m.
COLLEGE STATION: 19-years old Gil Roberts registered new world leading 46.17 at 400 m during Texas AM Invitational. Panamian talent Alonso Edward clocked another national 200 m record 20.89. Zambian Gerald Phiri won the 60 m in 6.68 and world 60 women leader Murielle Ahoure posted a nice double 7.26 and 23.14 PB in sprints. Jason Colwick cleared 561 in Pole Vault. Baylor got world leading 3:06.67 men 4×400 m relay.
NEW YORK: Joemi Maduka improved to 670 Long Jump at Armory during Virginia Duals meet.
FAYETTEVILLE: During second day of college programme at Tyson Invitational junior Marcus Rowland (18) clocked excellent 20.92 at 200 m beating Charles Clark (20.94).
BOSTON: Good Irish wins at Valentine Classic Meet. David McCarthy clocked 3:57.75 in the mile ahead of New Zealander Hayden McLaren 3:57.78. Another Irish runner Martin Fagan won the 3000 m in 7:57.85.
COLORADO SPRINGS: At Air Force Invitational Jeremy Dobson clocked 20.88 at 200 m, Hungarian Oliver Harsanyi cleared 220 indoor PB and Jill Camarena tossed to 17.84 shot put.
AMES: At Iowa State Classic Ibrahim Kabia achieved 6.67 60 m win, Jarrin Solomon achieved at oversized track 46.85 400 m and Georgian Mariam Kevkishvili got 17.34 in shot put.
CORRECTION
PEANIA (GRE): Kyriakos Ioannou did not compete as guest, but as a normal scoring athlete, representing his Athens club Panellinios. So he placed 1st in the Greek Indoor Championships and was awarded the gold medal.
