Letsenbet Gidey will debut at the Valencia Half Marathon on 6 December. While an excellent 5000m time may sound silly to determine a possible half marathon time, one would think that Letsenbet Gidey could do quite well. Let us see on December 6.

VALENCIA (ESP): Recent world 5000m record-breaker Letsenbet Gidey has been confirmed as leading top fields for the Valencia Half Marathon on 6 December. The world 10,000m silver medallist will return to the city in which she clocked her 14:06.62 last month as she makes her debut at the distance. She ran a world best 44:20 for 15km last year. Senbere Teferi is fastest in the field with her 65:32 with which she won the Valencia Marathon last year. World 1500m record-holder Genzebe Dibaba will compete at longer than 5000m for the first time. Dorcas Tuitoek, Brenda Jepleting, Emily Sisson and Sheila Chepkirui are also involved. Jacob Kiplimo, who won the World Half last year, leads the men’s field. Rhonex Kipruto, who set a world road 10km record with 26:24 in Valencia in January, and won world 10,000m silver last year, will make his debut at the distance.
