In 2017, I was lucky enough to witness the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. The Kombank Arena was a wonderful stadia from which to watch the championships. Witnessing the amazing series of long jumps performed that day by Ivana Spanovic, I was amazed by her focus and the enthusiasm of her home crowd. That night, she leaped 7.16m twice and finally, a Nr of 7.24m.
Spanovic with enough motivation
NOVI SAD (SRB): Serbian long jump star Ivana Spanovic has said her motivation comes from the fact she doesn’t think she has reached her limits yet. As part of European Athletics’ #AtHomeWith series, Spanovic said: “I just want to see what are my limits and I’m still in the sport because I don’t think I have reached my limits; I just want to see how far I will go,” she said. Spanovic has a lifetime best of 7.24m from the 2017 European Indoor Championships in Belgrade and she believes she could challenge that mark at the 2022 World Indoor Championships which also take place in Belgrade. “The whole competition in 2017 I was seeing where can I finish? After that we have the World Indoor Championships in two years and I don’t know what to expect but I’m pretty sure with all the years of experience, I think I can deliver something similar,” she said. Spanovic also said she wants to try the triple jump before she retires.
