I am still thinking about the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. So, I asked my brother, Brian to post three of my fave Victah photos for some comments.
(Interview with Josh Rohatinsky will be coming up later this week, as he prepares for ING New York!)
Evans Cheruiyot held on to the insane early pace, made his move at 30 kilometers, and gutted it out to a hot and humid 2:06:25. In his second marathon, Evans Cheruyot, is the champion of the Bank of American Chicago Marathon for 2008.
Lidiya Grigoreva of Russia went out very conservative, hitting the halfway in 1:16:02. Running her second half five minutes faster than the first, and breaking her only competition between 30 and 35 kilometers, Grigoreva ran 2:27:17 to take first. After winning the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Lidiya called her daugther and told her that she had won. Her daughter, all of six, asked if Mommy had purchased the new dress for an upcoming weddingl So much for enjoying your championship moments.!
On October 12, 2008, nearly 35,000 runners started the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for 2008. 31,500 finishers finished on Sunday morning and afternoon as the temperature rose from 65 degrees to 84 degrees. Thanks for a reorganized medical effort, water was plentiful, medical assistance had the tents under control and while runners were hot, they seemed to have prepared better for the heat than last years crowd. A great race was had by all!
