Cheptegei targets CC and Doha
KAMPALA (UGA): Joshua Cheptegei, the 2018 Commonwealth 5000m and 10,000m champion, is targeting global gold in both cross-country and on the track in 2019. The Ugandan, who last week set a world 15km road best, told IAAF he had learned from his experience at the 2017 World Cross when he had a big lead before drastically fading to 30th. “I’m really hoping to win a gold medal at the World Cross Country Championships and in the 10,000m at the World Championships in Doha,” he said. “Of course, everyone remembers what happened at the last World Cross but I took it (the experience) positively. I learned from the last World Cross that I needed to be a smart runner and that you cannot earn success without discovery.”
