CAPE ELIZABETH (USA, Aug 4): New Zealand’s Jake Robertson and Kenya’s Sandrafelis Chebet Tuei took the wins in the Beach to Beacon 10km. Robertson led from the start and went on to produce the biggest ever winning margin in the 21 years of the race. His 27:37 – nine seconds slower than his 2018 best which sees him fifth on the world rankings – put him 50 seconds ahead of Kenya’s Stephen Sambu. American Ben True from the hosting state of Maine, was third with 28:29. Shadrack Kipchirchir (28:45) and Amedework Walelegn (29:13) were next. Callum Hawkins was seventh in 29:16, while Tariku Bekele (10th in 29:39) was also of note. Chebet Tuei was timed at 31:21 in a much closer race for top woman. Ababel Yeshaneh of Ethiopia ran 31:26 for second and American Molly Huddle was third with 31:40. Pauline Kamulu Kaveke (31:56) and Emily Sisson (32:20) were fourth and fifth respectively. Buze Diriba (sixth, 33:18) and Gwen Jorgensen (eighth, 33:21) were other notable finishers.
