Brooks running sent us their release on their new signups for the Brooks Beasts Track Club. And the class of 2018 is amazing! We are quite impressed with the level of support and the level of intention that Brooks has put into this new class, post NCAA championships. In March, Brooks Beasts TC had strong representation in Birmingham World Indoors, taking the silver medal in the 800 meters (Drew Windle) and Katie Mackey’s fine performance in the 3000 meters. In April, Desi Linden, a long time Hansons Brooks athlete, took the Boston Marathon, in horrific conditions.
In 2018, Brooks has put together some new, exciting faces to represent the Brooks Beasts TC. We shall see some of them in Des Moines, Iowa later this week!

Brooks Running Company Signs Deepest Class of Athletes to Brooks Beasts
Track Club
Brooks Running Company signed a heavy-hitting recruit class to the Brooks Beasts Track Club, highlighting the team’s momentum and adding speed to its ranks ahead of the USA Track and Field Championships. New athletes include Josh Kerr, University of New Mexico; David Ribich, Western Oregon University and Allie Buchalski, Furman University.
“Our goal with the Beasts is twofold: to be one of the world’s top track programs and to invest in a team that inspires the future generation of our sport,” said Steve DeKoker, Brooks sports marketing manager. “We’re confident that these new athletes will not only be globally competitive track stars, but will also embody Run Happy and inspire others.”
Josh Kerr is the collegiate record-holder in the men’s 1500-meter run with his time of 3 minutes, 35.01 seconds. Kerr, originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, competed at the University of New Mexico where he was a three-time NCAA Division I national champion. He won the indoor 1-mile run in 2017 and 2018. Outdoors, he was the 2017 1,500 champion; he placed third in that event this year.
David Ribich is the 2018 NCAA Division II men’s 1,500 champion and he holds the Division II records in the indoor 3,000 (7:50.81) and the outdoor 1,500 (3:37.35). He joins team veteran Drew Windle who also competed at the DII level and has flourished since joining the Beasts.
Allie Buchalski is this year’s NCAA Division I runner-up in the women’s 5,000. At Furman University, Buchalski kickstarted the success of the women’s program through her inspiring achievements as well as her leadership at the cross-country team’s first appearance at the NCAA Championships last fall where it placed seventh.
“We started the Beasts five years ago with the intention of being one of the best track teams in the world. We’re still on that journey, and our foundation for moving forward is the talent and personalities of our athletes,” said Brooks Beasts Head Coach Danny Mackey. “Our 2018 class is the fastest we have ever signed. Each of the new Beasts loves the sport and wants to improve it during their careers which make them a perfect fit for our team–a team that believes we can accomplish more together than individually.”
Ribich and Buchalski will join the Beasts, Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project and Brooks at-large athletes in Des Moines, Iowa, at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships beginning June 21.
