The 4th Copernicus Cup was a huge success this evening. In Torun, Poland, the five thousand plus fans were entertained by Maria Lasitskene clearing 2 meters, and trying 2.05 meters. Piotr Lisek entertained his home crowd with a fantastic 5.91 meters WL. European and Polish star Bukowiecki throws 22 meters, with Tomas Stanek throwing a great series, but in second. Lea Sprunger, the Swiss star, continues to impress this year, runs 51.28 for a WL and MR for the 400 meters!
The IAAF World Indoor Tour, and the introductionof the FB and twitter streaming video platform, has been a great introduction to the indoor season. On to Glasgow (February 25).

World leads Lisek and Sprunger, Bukowiecki 22 meters
TORUN (POL, Feb 15): Fourth edition of Copernicus Cup meet (5th leg of IAAF World Indoor Tour) was a succesfull one before capacity crowd of 5200 spectators. Two World leads (Lisek, Sprunger), five confirmed Tour winners (Lisek, Evora, Kszczot, Stanek, Sprunger) and in total 7 meeting records in half of all events was a special statistics. Two Polish records (Bukowiecki, Swiety) and three more home winners (Kszczot, Lisek, Cichocka) made for a great atmosphere for the bidding city to stage the European Indoor Championships in 2021.

Men
60 m: Slovak record by Volko 6.57 ahead of Fisher 6.59 SB. Favorite Meite late withdrawal.
400 m (non Tour): Janezic beat again Maslak 46.03 to 46.17.
800 m: Kszczot with great display of tactics and finishing from behind won clearly and confirmed the Tour in 1:46.75.
1500 m (non Tour): Great depth with top 3 sub 3:38. With PB for Tolosa 3:37.41 MR, home star Lewandowski coming by 0.3 to his national record 3.37.67 and Holusa Birmingham standard and also close to his NR by 0.23 with 3:37.91.
60mH (non Tour): Trajkovic over Baji in expected duel, 7.59 to 7.60.
PV: Lisek WL/MR of 591 and Tour win. But otherwise the high quality field did not deliver, 2nd Barber 570, rest 560 or 550.
TJ: Napoles won 16.90 MR over Copello 16.89, but Tour winner is Evora with 16.80 as third.
SP: Second attempt by Bukowiecki was 22 meters exactly, European U23 record, Polish record (MR) and 11th indoor thrower over 22. Actually also best World mark in the U23 category. Stanek attacked with top series 21.83 and three more over 21.60 not enough, but he was the Tour winner already before the competition. Also over 21 Haratyk 21.12 and Storl 21.03.
Women
60 m (non Tour): Ta Lou fulfilled favorite role 7.11, Asher-Smith 7.14 SB and Okparaebo 7.17 over home star Swoboda 7.18 SB.
400 m: Swiss record and WL/MR for Sprunger 51.28, she is already confirmed tour winner. Swiety got Polish record 51.78, in first race Putalova Slovak record 52.62.
800 m (non Tour): Cichocka made the public happy with 2:00.76 win over Lyakhova 2:01.08 and Buchel 2:01.80.
1500 m: Surprise winner Arafi clocked 4:04.76 indoor PB over Bahta 4:04.89 also PB and third World champion Obiri 4:05.04. Three Ethiopians behind Samuel 4.05.36 PB, Alemu 4.05.51 PB and Embaye 4:05.64 SB.
60mH: After heats fastest Talay (7.98) was dq in finals, the win for Dutkiewicz in 7.85 MR over Pedersen 7.94 PB.
HJ: Lasitskene win in a row number 36 with 2 meters MR, tried at 205. Levchenko clear second 195.
