NEW YORK (USA, Feb 3): The USA 4×800 m relay team of Chrishuna Williams, Raevyn Rogers, Charlene Lipsey and Ajee’ Wilson entered Saturday’s 111th NYRR Millrose Games at The Armory focused on a world record. They did just that as they left The Armory as new owners of a world mark with 8:05.89. Former World record by Russia was 8:06.24 from 2011. The 5550 spectators at Armory Track saw another all-time best by Olympic winner Shaunae Miller-Uibo with 35.45 in the 300 m. She equaled the mark of Russian Irina Privalova from 1993. Chris O’Hare of Great Britain built up an insurmountable lead heading into the last lap of the night’s signature event, the NYRR Men’s Wanamaker Mile, to hold off runner-up Ben Blankenship andJosh Kerr. O’Hare finished with a 3:54.14 time to win his first Wanamaker Mile, just ahead of Blankenship’s 3:54.72 and Kerr’s 3:54.77. In the NYRR Women’s Wanamaker Mile, middle distance sensation Colleen Quigley 4:30.05 outstretched last year’s runner-up Kate Grace at the finish line 4:30.08. Aisha-Praught-Leer won the Fred Lebow Women’s 3000 m in Jamaican record over training partner and steeple World champion Emma Coburn 8:41.10 to 8:41.16. Morris was unable to compete because she suffered a back injury during warmups. Ronnie Baker won the 60 m in 6.48 over Noah Lyles 6.59 with Olympic hurdles winner Omar McLeod fifth 6.63 and legendary Asafa Powell 6th 6.69. Ivory Coast World leader Murielle Ahoure beat in 7.11 World champion Tori Bowie 7.14 with Javianne Oliver third 7.15.
